Va Tech Gameday...

Once got stuck in Blacksburg in a snowstorm. Stayed at a Motel 8 and went to a Waffle House because I needed the closest place to stay and the only place open to eat was that Waffle House.

Next morning continued on my trip to Florida.

The people working the Waffle House were very kind.

Otherwise, I have nothing nice to say about VT or Blacksburg.

We lose this one, I’m scared the season will really start to unspool.

Let’s get it tonight.

Sounds heavenly

I have a dear friend whose daughter was at VT during the shootings. One of her daughter’s best friends was killed. The stress and grief were terrible. My friend drove to Blacksburg and stayed in a house on campus that became the designated recovery house for students. She stayed there for a month, cooking and comforting the students. Later on she developed MS, which she feels was triggered by the shooting and aftermath.

When I saw her last spring she wasn’t doing well. Seemed to have developed dementia. She is one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known. A running joke between us (which she never quite understood) was when she’d say, “Oh, Peggy, wouldn’t it be so much fun if you and I could go to a VT/SU game together?” And I would say, “NO! That would not be fun. Not fun!” She didn’t get it.

At any rate, we MUST BEAT VT!

I think the effort tonight and against Miami will tell us a lot about this team mentally. If there isn’t an elevated commitment to defense and execution- this thing is going to spiral….
Main problem is you still have the same HC.

The "Waffle House Index" is an informal metric used by FEMA to determine how bad a storm is affecting a particular area. Because Waffle House's very rarely close.

This is legitimately the season on the line tonight. Lose and it’s over in January. Win and we’re that 9 seed in Philly vs UCONN 2nd rd. (I kid, I kid)

So true. This team has the talent to beat almost every team in the ACC but must execute on the court. League is wide open. FSU beats Miami in Miami. NC State beats Clemson in Clemson. NC loses twice in California. GT beats NC State in Raleigh.

Didn't realize Va Tech's 3 league losses have come by a total of 5 points. They aren't far off from being 17-2 and 6-0 in the conference. But then again I guess we really aren't far off from being 5-0 in conference. Should be a close game. Go Cuse!

i once got stuck in blacksburg on a canoe trip before they dammed the river...
sooo ... i got nothing nice to say about blacksburg . cue the banjos.

You're right, Mike. We need to win this one - SOLIDLY - to get back on track.

Some projections have VT as a bubbly 10 seed and Miami as an 8 seed. That used to be a bad season for SU. Now, we're praying to beat a team like that.

VT’s best offense is getting to the foul line. They lead the league in attempts and makes. Not a great shooting team.

I know we should be grateful for any Syracuse game as we only have a finite amount with our time on this planet.

But 9 PM on a Wednesday after a terrible loss is tough.
I know - I’m neither young nor old but it’s gotten harder to keep my eyes open after 10 pm these days.
At this point in the dreadful season, I will watch the game in bed until at some point my iPad will end up watching me sleep.

Might get to see some tonight because I’m hooping until 9-9:30 myself. Rarely ever on at the bar, but there’s a chance….

I have a feeling I'll be in the same situation as I am very much a morning person and don't do well after 10 pm
