Va Tech - Stone Helmets

I was accepted to VaTech Engineering, and took a visit. They do have the rock/stone all over the place. I give'm credit for the originality and at least tying it in with some kind of tradition.

I think they're awesome. I love weird stuff like this though - remember when St. John's had an homage to Carnesecca's sweaters on their basketball jerseys?

Ugly- yes? Credit to them for being original and connecting it to a campus tradition. I would bet that these will be a hit with VT alums.

Since when did stones become a "tradition"? If SU went with helmets that looked like the Dome, it wouldn't be celebrating a tradition.

I think they look stupid and I can't wait to see them in action. I also can't wait to make fun of them to all of the Chokies in my family.

I will bet they runs slower in those too. Rocks must be really heavy on your head. ;-/

In 2010, the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors made it official policy that Hokie Stone be the predominant material in the façade of every new building on the Blacksburg central campus

You can still make fun of all the Chokies in your family, but it ties in with the school

Can someone please photo shop a helmet that looks like the Dome? Or maybe like a salt shaker? Perhaps like Derrick Coleman's head?

that looks weird. It's practically an optical illusion.

Oh man, the Nike people would love to work with the distinctive grey color of Onondaga limestone.

Combine that with the new blue trend and it looks like we are heading towards Dallas Cowboy uniforms. Except we will have Otto instead of a big blue star.

surprise surprise the fashion critics disapprove, who woulda thunk it

This was my first thought. A dome helmet would be awesome for home games.

Nebraska - a corn cob
UCLA - bear fur
Oregon - realistic duck feathers
Miami - a hurricane rain storm
etc etc
