Vegas...All things related. Who is going? Mark...tailgate possibility?

I don't know Elara, but it looks like it's in a good location!

The West Rim of the Grand Canyon is about 2 and a half hour drive I think. I guess the South Rim is way better, but I haven't been there yet. There's a fee for the West Rim, since it's ran by the reservation. Deff something you have to check out if there's time. Could also take a quick helo there, but Su2fans might have all those rented already

Zion National Park is ~2 hours away as well, and is incredible.
Zion is often regarded as the best national park in the country.

A helicopter to Grand Canyon would be fun. It compresses the drive quite a bit and you get an amazing view.

There’s also a flightseeing tour fixed wing flyover as well.

With all the travel I have done, can you believe I have never been there. Budapest? Check! Manila? Check! Kuala Lumpur? Check! Vegas? Nope!

Booked a flight from Syracuse on American Wednesday to Wednesday for $400 and using Hilton Grand Vacations to stay at the Elara. Looks very nice. Anyone know it?

Would like to take a side trip to the Grand Canyon. Is that doable in one day?
You definitely could, and as Troop said, Zion's national Park is also a couple hours away and is great to visit and see.

That part of our country has a unique beauty to it. I definitely recommend if people have time they make some swings out into nature.

I have a friend in Vegas who told me if we don't want to devote an entire day traveling to Zion that Valley of Fire State Park is a light alternative. Any thoughts?

Light alternative is a good way to describe it. Valley of Fire is beautiful. Lots of different hikes ranging from "You could push your gramma down this trail in a wheel chair" to more difficult and long. Lots of cool view, and the rocks are amazing.

If you didn't want to make the drive to Zion, Valley of Fire is a great second choice. Can also check out Red Rock Canyon.

I own at Elara, its nice. Mine is a one bedroom suite, but only have it for odd years. It is on Harmon so the grand Prix set up may affect traffic in the area. Grand Canyon in one day not really doable in my opinion(unless you do the helicopter tour}. I am staying at Holiday Inn Club Desert Inn on Koval for this trip.

I took a motorcycle ride from San Diego to the valley of fire, red rocks and Mt Charleston and it was a great trip. Stunning scenery

Haven’t figured that out yet

Still playing with hotels/flights/exact dates

Do you have a place picked out yet? Just solo on this trip?

just going to be solo on this one. was looking at some options on the strip and looking at some options of a vrbo or air bnb too. shoot me a message if you want to plan something!

I'm reading that the best time to book a flight is 30-90 days out. I may just try and book a hotel first and wait out the flights. Hopefully they come down.

My son by coincidence is in Vegas this week, and called me yesterday that he took the Helicopter trip to the west rim(where the glass overlook is). The Helo also took them for a flight over the western canyon. He was able to do that all in the one day. We did not talk about what it cost.

Anyone have any historical data on when kickoff might be? Does UNLV have a pattern for home non-conference P5 kickoffs?

Going back to 2017 I can't see any instance where they kicked off before noon local time. I see a few nooners, a few 1pm/1:30s a 4pm and one or two 7:30pms.

I'm holding out hope for a 4pm kick. Will allow us to get a little crazy Friday night, get a little sleep Saturday morning with plenty of time to set the tailgate up. Gets us back to the casino around 8 for two hours of Orange mingling, and at the craps tables by 10! Let's goooooooooo

Yeah, and good chance this will be determined by TV anyway.

I was booking for an earlier trip in Sept.. The costs just went up about $75 this week, I will probably book and then rebook if it goes back down.

I just cancelled the Courtyard by the stadium and booked NYNY Room with a sofa also. That is the only property that came up on Bonvoy this week, although others will slowly come on and I will check those out. I got a senior Bonvoy rate. Troop, I think you said I could take a shuttle from there or from across the street?
