U can do moeyline which is probably like 900 for this game, which means you risk 900 to win a 100,but there isno spread to cover...moneyline parlays work really well for me in college games
I am going to Las Vegas tomorrow and would like to place a bet on the Cuse-St. John's matchup. Any thoughts on the line and whether Cuse will cover? Aside from a straight bet, how else can I bet? I never understood parley, etc.
The line will be double digits. Parlays are not good bets over the long run, but if you're only there for a day parlay Cuse with The over/under. If both hit you make 2.6x your bet.
Guessing line might be around -9?
Anyway, a parley is a multiple bet "bet". means you take someone like Cuse -9 (Cuse has to win by more than 9 points to cover), plus another game ...for example UNC -8 (or another type of bet in the Cuse game...i.e. over/under 165). You have to win each part of the parley to win the bet. the more "bets" you add to the parley the greater the payout.
the farm... on syracuse... they win by 50 going away... boomI am going to Las Vegas tomorrow and would like to place a bet on the Cuse-St. John's matchup. Any thoughts on the line and whether Cuse will cover? Aside from a straight bet, how else can I bet? I never understood parley, etc.
I'll take the line and over the points in a parley... ALL DAY Cuse 85-68SU is -12.5 and the over/under is 136.
Guess I kind of like SU and the under.
Tough game. Good luck.

I think we will cover but 136 over is quite high. That is going to scare me if St. John's is going to score on us.
When you are in the sports book you will see something like this:
#247 Syracuse -12.5 -110
The -110 means you need to put up $110 to win $100 (essentially any bet you make you pay a 10% vig if you lose, so a $50 bet will cost you $55). You would tell the cage you want $50 on #247 (which represents betting SU -12.5), and he will ask you for $55. If you win, you get your $55 back plus $50 in profit.
On a line that high, there probably will not be a money line. If there was, on the far right side of the game on the board would be a number like "-380". All bets represent odds on a $100 bet, so -380 means you need to put up $380 to win $100, or if you want to risk $100 you would only win $27 ($100/380).
Exactly, that's why when I do parlays I try to go straight money line. I feel more comfortable picking winners than picking over/unders and spreads, even though I know those are the ways to win more.Parlays are very tough to hit when going against the spread, even with a 2 or 3 teamer.
I had a 3 team parlay 2/3 of the way in earlier in the week (pays 6 to 1) and Missouri didn't cover by half a point, absolutely brutal.
Bounced back and won a 3 teamer with Michigan/Georgetown/St. John's.
Watching the games anyway, nice to have a little incentive to root for someone.
While you are out there, some casinos offer "Futures" bets, and will have odds on SU winning the National Championship. Look around at several places and see who offers the best line (recently seen one at +700, meaning you would win 7x your bet). Do the same looking around on the line for any game you're betting, SU may be -12.5 at one place and -11.5 elsewhere, and the O/U is likely to be different as well.
If they win you can mail the ticket in to get paid.
