Virginia Postgame

Guess who took 1 three pointer last night? Guess he didn't have the green light. ;)
I give JJ credit. His shot wasn't falling last night so didn't try forcing the matter - he ony took five shots. He also had some nice passes finishing with 5 assists. I don't know if this was JJ (or Red coaching JJ) but it was nice to see. He could have just kept shooting to get his points but doing so could have cost us the game (like smu). It was kinda strange watching him pass over shooting.

I’m sure his shooting hand being messed up has nothing to do with it.
You keep saying Starling is hurt. Is this a residual injury from December? I haven't read anything about this since he came back.

He’s had a big wrap on it for several games.

Great win for the guys on Senior night. For the first time this season it actually felt like an SU game. Everything was familiar again. The team and especially the crowd. Maybe it's just me but I felt like it used to. Felt good.
Red isn't a good coach but the kids like him and play hard for him. To see them being kids and enjoying themselves was great.
Next year is so important for our program. I really hope that somehow Red puts in an enormous amount of work and does everything possible to improve his coaching. Reaches out to JB and others to help. Breaks down film and critiques himself. He has the people part the relationship part of coaching down which is significant. Can him improve the X and Os. Improve his in game skills?
Hopefully he does and we see a completely different coach next season.
Last night felt good. Gives me some hope.
Question - how much of being a good coach is learned and how much is natural ability?

Gotcha. Makes sense to let him launch 10 threes then. ;)

True. You have to believe that having a wrap on your hand and around your thumb on your shooting hand has to effect your shooting.

It's fair to say that Starling isn't a good shooter, injury or not. If he's truly hampered by it now, though, then it really has been coaching malpractice to let him jack up shots like he has.

But whatever, it's water under the bridge now.

Cadeau can’t shoot. If JJ is here and he’s the point guard we will suck again.
Cadeau and RJ were only good because he had Bacot and the refs that blew a whistle every time he got touched making sure the other team's front court was in foul trouble every game. Now teams with rim protectors that aren't in foul trouble are a different game for them and you can see their #'s cratering.

Its a moot point anyway since UNC wouldn't let us buy one of their players just because.

We beat a .500 team that couldn't have cared less about the game. We're the 14 seed in the ACC tournament. Should we be celebrating like we made the final four?
Goodness! Have a drink, smoke some pot, do something to get out of that place.

Take the small victories where we can. They were few and far between.

Sure, along with Jugdish and Mohammad.

What's with all the hoopla over chaz ? sure we lose one legacy member but gain another (kiyan) .

Ended up spending the day with UNC fans. Don't judge. Our kids are friends. We ended up at an alumni game watch event in Orlando. I told them all I was a Syracuse fan. It was pretty rough when Maliq ruined their night.

Caught the Cuse game after. Nice win.
I thought Maliq was out for the season after dislocating his shoulder.
Man he's a tough kid.

You're giving us more credit than we deserve.
I agree. I think we've gotten really comfortable dropping feces on our team after every game but last night, let's tip our hats to a good overall performance from the boys (and coach). Since Red is coming back, I'm in the camp of trying to look for some positives going into next year. Also, let's see if we can get to Clemson this week.

That’s not what his post implied, he did imply that the board has become a cesspool of negativity. I’m sure someone would make the argument that it would be even worse at a lot of other programs……. that doesn’t make it right, I’m glad Autry is getting another year . I say this knowing we can’t throw red heels anymore .

We have been playing better the last few games, even though we lost. It’s like they are finally getting it and now the season is over.
i hope not but it seems to me like red is a type of coach that has teams that take forever to gel and figure things out

peaking in march is good as long as you havent been crappy nov-feb

in the portal era, thats a death sentence
