Virginia Tech/Recruiting in the ACC

Yes, of course hold a hearing.

And threaten to withhold money.

That usually works.

Doesnt most of the money these state schools get come from State funds? What about Private schools? Do you honestly think Congress members from Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, California, Georgia, Alabama, Lousiana, Virginia, WVU, South Carolina, North Carolina, etc etc would vote for that? Congress has been threatening to intervene in sports for decades and its all bluff they havent done jack . If SU or any other school gets left out and has to rely on Congress they are royally 'ed.

You don't think that federal money plays a huge role in higher academia?

Congress got involved in steroids in baseball and truly impacted the sport.

I would never discount what Congress can do when it decides to do something.

First thing we need to do is to use our new advantages to ensure we out-recruit Rutgers and UConn. Which means our northeast battles should be primarily with Penn State, Pitt, BC, Maryland. Two less mouths to feed will help.

But we are still going to be a heavy player development type of school. All the continued work in NYC proves that. We're getting good athletes, we just need to turn them into good football players, and once we have that revolving pipeline up and running, we should have a pretty good development cycle each year. That part is mostly on the assistant coaches.

You combine all of that with what I hope should be staff continuity, and the rest of the items will fall in place. We'll be a better football team, we'll be playing more interesting opponents, we'll be able to compete with them, we'll have more people at games.

Competing regularly with heavyweights outside of Penn State is certainly on the to-do list, but being ready to win more of those battles is a long term plan.
