Man assuming Fran and his staff can coach at least a little lol, it’s gonna be nice not having to worry about 50/50 games with teams like BC, Wake Forest, etc…we should be competing with the UNC’s, NC States of the world and beyond now.

When you have Kyle McCord throwing to OG, Villari, Haynes, Ross, Hornsby, Trimble and handing off and throwing to Allen and Willis out of the back field…you can start competing with some big time teams. I also think our o-line is a little better than people give them credit for going into next year.

You definitely try and upgrade positions with transfers which can be done. But that’s not a terrible O-line by any means if coached up and has some depth behind it.

Our defense is going to be our defense. I’m not worried about them. Our head coach, and new coaches on that side of the ball so far are VERY STRONG. Plus you already have some studs on that side of the ball and we already have a strong defense with some depth from last year. Add in some of the recruits and transfers that we are going to add this week. We have quite a few guys that are probably top 5-10 in the country at their position (Fadil Diggs at DE, Grant and Barron (if he comes back) at Safety, throw in Alijah Clark, Wax at LB (if he comes back), Norman has the potential to be a top 10 DT) then you add in guys like Heard, Thompson at LB, McDonald at LB, Jobity and Jaquez at DE, Gould and Farmer at Saftey, Bellamy at CB. My biggest concern on the defense right now is DT depth, Corner depth and linebacker depth. We are VERY solid everywhere else

In this new world of Syracuse Football I still think we need to upgrade our talent by 2 or 3 starters.
3 of those players didn't play most of the year and we know injuries always play a large role in topping off seasons with 2 or 3 wins which we know make a huge difference between hoping for a bowl and being rewarded with a bowl and season we can be proud of and build upon.

Agreed. I think it’s an okay line currently. You can definitely upgrade a few positions through the portal like I was saying and definitely could use more depth. But I don’t think it’s a bad o-line. I think we are solid at RT when David is healthy, I think Joe Cruz is a sleeper too. I think he’s a stud and is gonna be unleashed this year. Cruz Jr has the potential but he hasn’t been consistent. Reed is a run blocker, needs to improve consistency and pass pro, right guard is kinda a wild card at the moment.

Yeah RG was the one that came to mind for me. If they can get Ellis in shape that will help significantly. Pass blocking has been such a problem here that I’m curious if they just being a better developer in if we’ll see a marked improvement in the personnel we have.

Even with slimmed down Ellis with more upper body strength, I’d still like to see a new starter or 2. We need to have a quality 2 deep that can both run and pass block.

I do think a new QB, new Offensive system, and new coaching staff will make the OL passable. Upgrades are welcomed but we will have an experienced QB who gets rid of the ball on time for the most part. I don't see our new QB holding the ball on too long which will inturn make our pass blocking better.
