I always thought it was an awesome college football atmosphere at Lane Stadium. They had a bunch of good players for a while. It was big deal when Dino beat them at home a few years ago. I don’t know. Maybe I have a soft spot for old big east teams? I hated the lollipop Beamer stuff and do like to beat them. I just didn’t see a day when they would be down 31 points to old dominion.

Yes, that was a great day and game in the last minute win in 2021. You are right about the atmosphere at Lane. I left the stadium hoarsely chanting "Shrader for Heisman!"

They had a very good run from 2004-2011. That is 8 years all well after Vick. They won the ACC in 2004 (pre CG), and also were in 5 of the first 7 ACC CGs.

But they have been nothing since then.

I think K-State might be worse, only because they had higher pre-season expectations.

Honestly, I thought they had more money when they hired Pry. He was an odd choice.

They had several good years post Vick. The tyrod Taylor years were good. Always enjoyed a bud foster defense.

Exactly! They have been what I call a “fake” team for years. Back in the day they loaded up with a lot of cupcake teams, which was later an approach followed closely by Schiano at Rutgers.

Did they have some good teams? Yes, but they never truly deserved the hype they received. I mean, they were fairly good in the Big East, but weren’t given a lot of credit. Then they moved to the ACC, which was a conference as weak or possibly weaker than the Big East at the time and were elevated to power program status, which was a farce. It was all ACC southern football public relations nonsense (which, by the way, has been revealed to be crap. The ACC has no clothes!)

For this reason, more than any other, I’ve never liked them. Vick was 100% legitimate. All the other hype never has been.
