VT: Hosting us after their worst loss of this season by 21 points at North Carolina Monday night. They are a very good team ranked # 10/8 before the NC loss with balanced scoring among the starters.

Nickeil Walker is the best shooter, this from his roster bio: 2018-19: Hit a career-high five 3-pointers at North Carolina, finishing with 19 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals … Dropped his eighth 20-point performance of the season versus Wake Forest, racking up 24 points, including 7 of 9 from the charity stripe, tying a season-high seven rebounds and four assists … Delivered 19 points, four rebounds and three assists at in-state rival Virginia. Looks like we should have someone on him and in his face the entire game.

Another challenging ACC opponent. GOSU :)

Blackshear is a load underneath and their best rebounder. VT’s strength has become our strength- 3 point shooting. They have 7 players hitting over 33% from 3 in fact 5 players hit over 41.9% or better from 3 which is remarkable. We have to run them off the 3 point line, extend our zone, rebound and not foul them. They are not a good rebounding team but are a very good free throw shooting team (76%).

For you younger guys out there, Cherie is the type of woman you should try to marry if you can.

in conference play, they are hitting at 37.3%, just a tick better than our own 36.7%
the difference is our 3 pt defense is holding teams to 29.1% (again, in conference play) while vpi is last in the acc, allowing opponents to hit at 40.3% from deep
advantage syracuse. but the game is not played on paper.

It’s gonna be a hell of a game, but we’re gonna pull out the W. Even before the Duke upset, I felt that we were gonna beat Va Tech down there. And I still feel that way. The team has played really confidently on the road and is starting to gel. It helps that we have three guys (Eli, Buddy and Frank) who are really knocking down 3-pt shots at a consistent rate and shooting it with a lot of confidence. Va Tech’s defense isn’t great, so if we can contain their offense somewhat and play as well as we have on the offensive end, we can and will win this game.

I can't wait for this game. I think it is going to be a great litmus test on what kind of team we are. On the road against a good team that is coming off a rough outing and is rested...and oh yeah Buzz knows what he is doing. good challenge.

We've typically played well against Buzz outside of the Marquette tourney game I really don't remember any terrible losses against him. I kind of think the board overrates Buzz a bit. Good coach, but his offense is entirely reliant upon driving and kicking which the zone typically negates. They have the same team they had last year which we handled rather easily in the dome.

Wish they werent coming off a blowlout loss for 8pm Sat home game but still think the guys pull it out
