Jenn Gilligan's first shutout as a member of the Orange and a first period goal from sophomore forward
Jessica Sibley, the Syracuse hockey team obtained sole possession of second place in the CHA by defeating Lindenwood 1-0 on Friday.
Syracuse, which improved to 3-1-3 in league play with the win, got on the board first when Sibley scored off assists from
Akane Hosoyamada and
Alysha Burriss just 3:01 into the game.
Sibley's goal stretched Syracuse's streak to three-straight games its scored in the first four minutes of play, and six-straight games scoring in the first 12 minutes of play.
Gilligan and the Orange defense would hold Lindenwood off the board for all-60 minutes, making 19 saves in the contest.
Syracuse hasn't allowed a goal in its last 85:13 of play dating back to last weekend.
The Orange will look to keep its shutout streak alive, as well as its ownership of second place in game two against Lindenwood at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
