some interesting stats begin to develop as we look to our top scorers (sorry to leave you out CJ) for stats and information. Key numbers indicate that:

1. FG% shows that Scoop is a marksmen overall at a 50.3%
--followed by Dion at 48.9% and Dirty at 48.2%
--Triche is shooting 44.6%
--KJ is shooting 44.2%
Overall, each of these five are doing well from 2 pt range with Scoop, Dion and Dirty doing the best

2. 3pt % favors Triche at 40.2%
--followed by Dion at 34.9%; KJ at 34.4% and Dirty at 33.8%
--Scoop is at 32.2%
Dirty has been missing 3s...but remains a better % shooter from distance than Scoop...interesting stat because Scoop has made some significant 3s at end of half but probably should not be go to guy for a 3 pt shot and Dirty obviously has shot poorly in last several games

3. FT% is a runnaway for Triche at 86.4 and KJ at 78%
--Dion at 69.7% and Dirty at 66.7%
--Scoop is very low at 51.1%
Will have to question Scoop being in at end of close game as FT shooting is not his forte this year(have no reason why this is so)...but even though a terrific 2pt percentage shooter, close games result in foul shots...and Triche and KJ should be doing the shooting.

Obviously, Scoop is on target from inside the 3 pt line and his 3 pt shooting % has brought his overall % down to over 50%...he is mister bullseye in close. same can be made for Dion and Dirty as low 30%+ from 3s are bringing down their overall %.

Seems like we are not as bad shooters as it sometimes appears. Over and just barely under 50% shooting is darn good...our dude are our DUDES...whomever gets the ball in a specific situation is likely to make the shot...believe we will continue to win without anyone of the above becoming the go to man. As long as we continue to share the ball we will score...and consequently have enough offense to win based on our defensive superiority.

2 pt. FG% in conference play:

Keita, .727 (8/11)
Melo, .636 (28/44)
Joseph, .574 (35/61)
Southerland, .571 (20/35)
Carter-Williams, .555 (5/9)
Triche, .533 (24/45)
Jardine, .528 (19/36)
Waiters, .486 (34/70)
Fair, .485 (33/68)
Christmas, .440 (11/25)

and, 3 pt FG% in conference play:

Carter-Williams, .500 (1/2)
Triche, .412 (14/34)
Waiters, .357 (10/28)
Jardine, .321 (9/28)
Joseph, .237 (9/38)
Southerland, .212 (7/33)
Fair, .000 (0/4)

isn't it curious that the two of the three worst finishers from inside the arc are taking the most shots from there

while the two worst shooters from beyond the arc (discounting Fair) are two of the three most frequent shooters from that distance

it's really just a statistical artifact that (one would hope) will change as the season completes, but generally it is not a formula for success when your worst shooters take the most shots.

The "inside the arc" thing isn't necessarily fair, since Waiters and CJ are still both hitting nearly 49% from 2 pt range. That's most definitely respectable, particularly for Dion considering how many of those horrendous fadeaways and floaters he takes.
