Wake game concerns me

They rolled us last year. Went off in the second half. Started a stretch of 10 straight quarters of misery.

How much has changed since then? Kids better come ready to play. Should be another one of these 51-41 type games.

This is shaping to be a 63-56 , who has the ball last type of game. If we force 3 punts we may win. Offensive guys should be foaming at the mouth. Wake can definitely beat us, but this is a game we should win if we come to play.

How much has changed? They lost Wolford

Will be high scoring, we'll get more stops.

Given the closeness of every one of our ACC games all the games should scare us. We may be ranked but we could also be so far from being ranked as to be insignificant. We have become good enough to compete but aren't close to being elite -- not yet anyway. Hard to keep the intensity for every game and with this team the razor's edge needed to win is vital.

Colburn ran all over the field against us last year. I suspect he will have another career day against our weak run D. Wake runs the hurry up offense and tries to put up a ton points to compensate a weak D (similar to us). I think we have a more potent offense though. Hopefully the ranking does not go to the players' heads, as this is a very winnable game.

Near perfect was aimed more at ND and BC. I know L'ville has been a mess, really don't understand how Van Gorder has been retained. I'll be shocked if he's the DC next year. They still have talent on the roster though, enough to beat us, but I dont see it happening. I guess the exception is if we completely crap the bed down in Winston-Salem, but I don't see that happening either.

Van Gorder is one of those guys who inexplicably keeps getting jobs and he sucks. I hope he stays at Louisville forever. They have some talent, but their defense is horrific and after Clemson beats the hell out of them this week, they will be eliminated from bowl contention. When you are winning and play for a complete d**k like Petrino who you hate, you can get away with it, but when a team is losing and they hate their coach(which we all know they do), then they are going to tank it. Which they appear to already be doing. I expect it to just get worse as they go.

we are favored by 4 points not 14, win or lose it's a toss up game, even if we play pretty good could still lose for sure.

Two pretty even teams really. We are good and trending up but not that good. Coin flip for sure.

Yeah, I think we can look for Shy to play a lot in this one. Ironically, if he does his job well, Wake will be forced to throw a lot and Shy won't play as much.
I'm not sure that Dortch is 100% and may be why Wake relied on their RBs against Louisville. Of course he could be for our game.

I'd feel much better about this game if we had 2 healthy corners. Do we?

I think our top 2 cbs and 1 of their replacements is hurt. So basically everyone except Trill. Fredricks looked like 40% last game. Thats a huge loss for us, if he cant go again (and i say again because i dont think he could go v nc state).

Just win, baby.

There are lots of reasons to be concerned, and lots of factors that work in our favor. If we play well, we will win. There ain't no hurricane walking through the door on Saturday.

But, don't home teams generally get about 3 points? So, factoring that in, at a neutral site, we would be 7 point favorites. Doesn't seem like a toss-up to me.

I'm not saying anything is a guaranteed win, but I look at those scores for the Clemson and FL state games, and I tell myself there is no way we lose. I think this would def be a wt loss.

Yep. Most analytical sites have us winning this game 65-75% of the time.

We could lose. Sure. But we win this game most of the time.

I miss the days of Rutgers and Temple in the 90s when we could just relax knowing the outcome was predetermined and spend some time checking out some of the promising reserves who would get some extended run.

the good news is Rutgers is back on the schedule in 2020 for a home and home, and guess what? nothing has changed with them!

But the game is at WF so you can’t say we’re 7 points better.

If Robinson/Coleman show up, SU should be golden. They will tee off on that freshman QB all game.

How about we double team their Stud WR and not let one guy beat us like the NC State kid.

It doesnt sound like their other players are of his talent, not to mention they have a freshman QB.
