Walk On Clay Austin

I am not sure the kid is 5'9" but he has excellent hands and good straight ahead speed and his HS tape showed he is pretty tough for a track kid. Very impressive for a walk on and I wouldn't be surprised if he saw the field on special teams, maybe as an edge rusher on the kick blocking unit?

Holy cow the two fastest kids on the team are walk-ons and their speed is big time legit.
I don't know what his 100 meter time is,but Jacob Hill's was reported at 10.7 and that is in David Byrd's range.

Hill better see some carries early on as this kid is both very fast and strong for his size. He showed no fear running straight into the meat of the defense yesterday.

Looking like Austin was brought in as a special teams gunner from my guess.

I don't see anything not to like about Clay Austin. And his hudl looks like he could've gotten some football offers out of HS

So why / when did he quit track?

Hudl lists a 4.37. Whatever it is - he's damn fast.
