Do walk ons count into the APR? Cuse has a ton of walk ons.

This question was brought up at the ncaabbs board--wonder if our smart guys here know the answer?

If so, they should bring in 40 walkons to bring up the avg.

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that they do not count. If they did, schools could "game the system" by listing a bunch of 4.0 GPA kids as walk-ons.

As it is, Syracuse had THREE walk-ons on the Big East All Academic Team last year (DeRemer, Resavy and Tomaszewski). http://www.suathletics.com/sports/2011/8/1/GEN_0801112741.aspx?id=7673

APR relates to scholarship players only ...

Yeah, it's not like they are going to take away scholarships (which is one of the punishments) b/c your non-scholarship players weren't pulling their weight.

Actually the APR is based not on those attending classes and playing basketball presently ... I am pretty sure but rather on those leaving the program either as seniors or as early NBA entries... for example Paul and Johnny. When they decided to leave SU and they had been good boys and attended all classes they would have maintained their grade point average and would be considered eligible to return to SU (as student) at some point in time. However, if they just stop going to class their gpa drops below acceptable levels and is reflected in the APR. That's how I understand it.

Exactly. It's eligibility and being on track to graduate. When people leave early and don't go to class it kills us. Wes is the only guy I can remember seeing in class after the season

Quite a blanket statement, considering you're one person and there are hundreds of different classes to choose from at Syracuse University on a given day.

I get what you're saying, but I'm pretty sure there were more than just Good Ol' Wes going to class.

Unless you meant to say "after the season in which they declared early." And in that case I'd agree.

Obviously this is what I meant. No non-player affects APR.

Obviously? Wasn't so obvious to me... maybe I'm a little slow though. Should have went to more of my PSY 205 classes with Lewandowski.
