Wanna feel old?

Yes I do remember a vibrant downtown Syracuse -- Dey Brothers Dept. Store, Wells & Coverly, Flah's, Addis's, Woolworths are the stores I remember. And I think the original Schrafft's (sp?) soda fountain. Theaters -Lowes, the Strand, Echel (sp?) on E. Fayette St. Others?
My grandmother who passed in 2012 worked at Sibley's downtown for many years. I think it closed in 1989. I remember picking her up from there when I was around kindergarten age.

I remember Sibley's. I remember when it came to Syracuse. I think it was a Rochester store. But it came later, after the period of downtown that I was referencing. I think one of my aunts worked there also.

My earliest Syracuse sports memory was hearing about Syracuse playing in its first college football bowl game ever and getting blown out by Alabama 61-6. 1953 Orange Blowl. Everyone thought that SU football would never be invited to a bowl game again. A favorite early memory is when Jim Brown, in the Spring of his senior year at Syracuse, visited my 6th grade gym class at the old Charles Andrews School on the East Side of Syracuse. What a treat that was. 1957 I think.
FloridaCuse, I love how old you are!

John Wallace’s magical senior year was 30 years ago.
The Pearl’s junior and final season in the dome was 40 years ago.
Time is undefeated
Yup, 1996. That 3 pointer against Georgia. Clutch!
