Want a better offense, go find an O Line, plain and simple. the

Just about every QB SU played against extended plays with his feet numerous times per game especially on 3rd downs. SU's OL can be much better for sure, but how many sacks this year could have been avoided with a better mobility or anticipation or faster decision making? I don't know, but after 2 years I'm pretty sure it's a factor.

I am not denying they extended plays. But, they had a much better pocket to throw from. I mean, look at the OL. Most teams have places for QB's to step up or avoid the rush. Syracuse gets pressure from RT, LG and up the middle. Usually pretty quick. There were some times where Nassib could have stepped up, but I don't think it was as often as you are referring to.

Don't get me wrong, a mobile QB with this OL would help. But, the OL is a pretty substantial problem in regards to pass blocking.

When I watch other teams, the first thing I notice is the quality of pocket and how Syracuse just hasn't done that in awhile.

The only BE team that failed to blitz early and often was West Virginia, and they paid for it. Prepared teams knew that they could blitz all day long and they did, and until the QB figures out how to deal with it the blitzing will continue. People blame the receivers and the OL, and they certainly are a factor but after two years I'm pretty certain that the QB has failed to meet expectations in his ability to respond to the blitz.

The QB either needs to avoid the pressure or recognize it and quickly know where the advantage is and take it, and if the advantage is a deep ball then he needs to throw the deep ball with accuracy. A lot of college QBs hit receivers with single coverage who have a step or half-step on the defender. I see none of that. I see other QBs who have a rhythm and an understanding with receivers where they can throw to the back shoulder or under throw and the receiver is on the same page. I like Nassib. He's a solid college QB, but he needs to improve in certain areas. The OL needs to improve too, but imo it's more complicated than just the OL and the OL at SU has improved.

My point is I do not think we can get the talent needed. When we had good Os in the past the system (lots of misdirection) and QB (being able to escape) hide how bad our OLs were. I think taking an approach that needs an OL that is strong in order to have a successful O, is flawed.
BOSTON COLLEGE ALWAYS DID WELL WITH GOOD LINES

I'm still trying to figure out how exactly Pugh was a sieve. He was all league. are the coaches all dumb who voted for him?
