This is why opponent is more important than bowl. My lack of excitement to play a skeleton PAC 2 team in an equally, or perhaps slightly more prestigious bowl, is far outweighed by my disappointment in not having a chance to play Ole Miss on the east coast in the Gator bowl.

WSU tie-in should have been stripped for situations exactly like this.

Agreed. I guess the only consolation prize (aside from the slightly higher payout than what the Gator pays) is that it helps the odds of a win and a 10 win season in Fran’s first year.

If that happens I would hope the program sees the opportunity to market the crap out of a double digit win in Fran’s first year. A few years from now we will all remember the double digit win season, nobody will remember the bowl game opponent.

Once the game is over, people won't remember that we ended up playing the equivalent of Wagner in this bowl game, given how depleted Wazzu is going to be.

They WILL remember that Fran got Cuse to TEN WINS in his 1st season.

And that Kyle McCord had a year for the record books, likely ending up w/ ACC single-season passing yardage record.
He's currently in 5th with 4326, ahead of Drake Maye;
and behind Armstrong, Rivers, Matty Ice, and DeShaun Watson at 4593.

He 'only' needs 268 yards in this game to take the lead.
He might get that in the first half.

His only sub-300 yard passing game was vs. VaTech, when he "only" threw for 280.

He owns the Cuse single-season passing and 300 yard games records, most consecutive 300 yard games, and assuming he goes for 300+ vs. Wazzu,
will TIE Eric Dungey for 1st in career 300 yard games with 12.
(Dungey played in 39 games, Kyle will be 13. That's... insane.)

10 wins is so important for the program. Yeah, I'd prefer to be in the Gator, but it's also fun to see Syracuse win by 4 TD's.
