Am I the only one that thinks Bobby Knight sucks as an analyst? His initial point(s) are always somewhat interesting... the first time he says them. But he really grates on me when he says the exact same thing 25 times in a 10 second span and wont let the play by play guy do his job.

I think he is one of the best color guys to work a game. I really enjoy listening to him and would prefer him over almost any guy except maybe Bilas or Raf.

As JB said in his show this week, Bobby Knight knows more about basketball than anybody---anybody.

He's outstanding.

However, if there were a Facebook profile for Bobby Knight The Color Man, one of his interests would be "beating a point into the ground." He's got a broken record tendency. Since he also has a killer sense of humor and more basketball knowledge than anyone else in his field, he gets a pass from me.

Bobby Knight has probably forgotten more about basketball than most people know about basketball....except Igor and Blue.

Love Bobby Knight as a coach and as an announcer. He does tend to beat his points across though. I'm guessing you are referring to his statements about Mizzou's poor shot selection which he repeated several times and was absolutely dead on about it. I had predicted a blowout by Mizzou, but the 2nd half shot selection was really bad. Tigers have a bunch of good shooters but they were off tonight and should have taken it inside more. They looked like high schoolers trying to impress the cheerleaders.

My biggest problem is hes too slow to get his point across. Basketball is a fast paced game, the color guy has to get his points in quick, half the time by the time knight makes his point the play is over.

lets say missouri is bringing the ball up the court, knight will say something like: "ok now theres 44 seconds left in the half, and theres 35 second shot clock, what missouri needs to do here is take time off the clock to not give illinois much time to come down the other end and score before the half ends." by the time hes done saying all that missouri already scored and illinois is bringing the ball up the court lol

I don't know, I feel very smart when I listen to Knight's commentary. I sometimes feel like I actually am beginning to understand the game! (shot fake)

If I was a player I would make sure to do 2 or 3 pump fakes a game when Bobby Knight is there. He'll talk about you the rest of the season

The title of this thread was a bit misleading as instead of gaining any insight to each of these two teams we might meet in the future, it focused on Bobby Knight's performance.

He is obviously very knowledgable about basketball, but I find him 49% annoying, 49% boring and 2% entertaining as an announcer. I wish they would take him off the air and give him a 5 minute studio spot on Saturday Gameday so he can impart that little bit of wisdom we get from him once a week now, but with 6 hours of tv time.

I don't really like Knight as an analyst. I'm not for a second questioning his hoops knowledge; there is no question he's forgotten more than any of us will ever know.

But I do think he is very repetitive. I watched most, but not all, of the game last night, but I actually don't remember a lot of shot fake mentions. However, he was talking a lot about how quick 3 pointers means you can't get fouled. One thing that bothered me that was when they would take those quick trigger 3s, he would say something like "they need to get it inside so they can get an easy 2 pointer or get fouled". Now, I don't have a problem with the general idea; Missouri was taking way too many quick 3s, and they should've tried to get it inside more. But he was acting like all you had to do was post a guy up and you'd get a bucket or a foul.

Also, I agree about the taking too long to get his point out. After Missouri hit a FT to go up 4 with like 2 seconds left, he went on and on about how th egame was over because Illinois didn't have enough time to score 4 points in one possession. It's like, who doesn't know you can't score 4 points in one trip?

Agreed. Never liked him as a coach. But thoroughly enjoy the games he works as an analyst. He and Bilas.
