I made the mistake of actually watching stanford because i bought the mcaffrey hype. BORRRING

they average 19 ppg and 307 ypg. etta tawo has more yards per game than mcaffrey and mcaffrey is the whole offense

people who don't like this offense love stanford and they do have some good wins but i'm still glad we're not copying them.

had they beat washington state 42-16 on the road, i'm sure there'd be lots of talk about it. how many people ever thought leach would beat oregon and stanford in back to back weeks by a lot?

this year, we just need to cherry pick. no coach was going to win a lot with some of our talent weaknesses. that stuff is not that hard to fix.

We have the right system. We have the right guy (Dino) in place. I firmly believe that if Nick Saban was named SU coach last December, we would be 2-4/(maybe) 3-3 right now. The pool of talent on this roster is shallow, young, injured, and unevenly balanced. That is tough to overcome for anyone. (not trying to chide S.Shafer, just the reality of SU's scenario at hand)

This Dino "cake-batter" storyline is taking shape all around us. It is called player development. Today, tomorrow, next week, next month, this coming offseason. It's nearly constant. And the story, I firmly believe, will end quite well. We just don't know exactly when things will turn for the better, and for many fans, that can be frustrating. And that's understandable.

That said, I gently suggest embracing the process instead of fighting it or trying to hasten its completion. It'll be more rewarding when the worm does turn, whenever that exactly is.

Well said and off the board I preach that to everyone, sure it's frustrating. The biggest issue is that people on the fringe are still growing more disinterested not more, that we need to change at some point. We could really use a couple wins coming in.. a nice upset would be great.

It's definitely going to take time, hopefully Dino has the chops to stick it out

if he doesn't hire someone else to run the same stuff.

my fear is that if he leaves after three years, the moustaches throw up their hands and talk about getting back to basics

Yeah hopefully if he does leave year 3 he has demonstrated enough success ( which is KEY to all of this) to find a similar replacement and we move forward

if ND/Stanford/MSU/Texas/LSU/Auburn can all be struggling with way better talent and established coaches, I dont know why people are surprised a school with far lesser talent and new systems on both sides would have issues in year one.

If we had the Wake RB last week we would have won that game going away. just the ability to make yards out of nothing makes any system look better.

we almost didnt score a TD from the 1 because we got tackled by our own Oline dude.

That about sums it up.

That dude could certainly recruit. Crazy

It is the craziest thing. You see that mustache and think, ok, porn star dude of the 70s still hanging on, I'll peel another layer of the onion. Then you hear his voice and think, wait, scratch that, it's Beaker from the muppets.

How...does...that...work.

Had to be new Heinz Field. Had to be.

Yeah one of the great unsolved mysteries for sure

I too had hoped that the trip to Wake would render a win. But it did not, but let's not act like we were not in the game the whole way. We had the ball at the 50 down 14-9 late in the third quarter/early 4th. In all., we had about 6-7 possessions where a TD would have given us the lead.

If anything, we saw our defense take a decent stride forward against the Deacons. They were stout against the run. Still a bit weak when it comes to quarterbacks running the ball, but progress is progress. We just assumed the progress would come on the offensive side, but the wind/wet made that exceedingly difficult ;ast week. In some respects, the solid play of the defense could be more important going forward, because personally, I am not at all worried about Dino's offense outside of O-Line play.

And let's give Wake some credit too. Solid game plan, and Wolford made some big plays. On their 3rd TD drive, they had a 3rd and 4 from near midfield and we got a nice rush on, flushed him out to the right. He made a dying quail throw all the way across the field for a 5-yard gain and a first down. He made a play. Sometimes we forget that there are two teams out there playing. Our guys did everything right on that play, but his play trumped us. Bummer dude.

Look, in my opinion, with Dino in the fold, we will beat Wake 7 or 8 times every 10 years. Last Saturday just happened to be one of the setbacks.

you made me look up his record and i saw that jackie sherrill went 33-3 his last 3 years there. 40-7 overall. holy cow. pitt has won 10 games once since

what a stretch they had from 76-81

So when they re-hired Johnny Majors, they actually meant to re-hire Jackie Sherrill.

Makes a lot of sense. That 2nd Majors era was a real honeymoon for Syracuse. The game was over before Pitt arrived at the stadium.

not funny! don't joke about that!

Why not, he even has the tie.

If he leaves after three more years of what we are seeing right now - a likely three-win season - it will not be a voluntary departure.

It's easier to gain this people back than everyone thinks. I'm done with attendance and fan enthusiasm. Just build the thing. People will come back.

They are in year 3 of a rebuild and needed the weather to break right to finally beat us in year one of our rebuild.

Have you seen how many yards, and points Oregon has given up? They are 2-4, and their schedule strength isn't near ours, and they were in the championship game 2 years ago.

For sure. They miss the coaches they lost

I am a Stanford fan. Gotta have a west coast team to watch at night. Standfordbisbpne dimensional. Teams have been putting 8 or 9 on the box and Mccaffrey is still averaging over 5 ypc. The qb last year was pretty talented. The two qbs they are trying now are bad... Like really bad.

I don't feel any better watching another team get their asses handed to them.

I feel a little better knowing that loss is behind us and farther in the rear view every day.
