Way OT storm

Stay safe to all those impacted in this thread, man. Nothing ever good happens with downed power lines. That heavy, wet snow is absolutely brutal. Hopefully they get things back up and running quickly and the weather turns for the better to help out.
I got out of town and headed to a bar - where someone I kindve know told me he works for a company that takes trees down - they’re coming in the morning to give me a quote.

No power at home = crush some beers while watching the games, and get my downed tree problem solved!

I got to Nantucket yesterday around noon beautiful day. This morning i thought my house was going to blow down. No snow but plenty of rain and wind.

You grid experts, why are random streets on the west side having power and some do not. But there is no rhyme or reason. Just took a look around. The next street over is on. So is the next block on my street. But it’s not in order.

I had a tree come down on my garage. Looks like slight damage to the metal roof.

But it was also blocking my car in the garage, and the electricity has been out all day. I was able to saw a big piece of the tree off with a handsaw - but it wasn’t easy and took awhile. That allowed me to get the car out of the garage, at least. Won’t be returning home until it’s time to go to bed. It’s times like these when I wonder why anyone lives here.
For the love of the orange.

I was blessed with only losing power until about 1pm yesterday

I feel for everyone that lost it and still hasn’t gotten it back yet.

I will say, I woke up at 4:30am to a massive explosion and sky lighting up like bombs were going off. That went on all around me until about 6am or so when the sun started coming up.

On the hill in the Endicott where I live we got 12 inches of the heaviest snow I’ve personally ever dealt with.

Crazy to see so many trees knocked down

A standby generator is your friend. I installed one at my home in the north country 5 years ago. Best investment I ever made

You shouldn’t build your house so close to the transformer boxes.
