I know it was just one play but we need more special teams players like him. That was a nice tackle on the punt return he stuffed. I think and hope he will live up to his "lights out" hype.

I know it isn't really typical but I would love to see us go to a 5 man DB next year every play. With Anderson, Lyn, Reddish, Whigham, George, Morgan, Ford, Desir, Esk, and Wilkes how do you only play 4 at a time? That is two too many for a two deep. Meanwhile at LB we have Spruill, Davis, Lynch, and? We can't even get a two deep at LB. And who the hell is playing MLB next year?

Are you suggesting a 4-2-5? Ballsy.

TCU runs it and they have a pretty good D year in and year out. Get your best players on the field. Our DL has pretty good size and our Ss aren't all that smaller than the LBs. It shouldn't hurt the run D all that much especially if you attack with the added speed.

I'm pretty sure he was one of the big talkers on the field, too

Yes he was. was also waving the towel standing on the bench as well, maybe someone should ask if the NYC kids enjoyed themselves Saturday, I bet they did. It will pay recruiting dividends IMO down the road in that area. Morgan will be a player here for sure.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to it. All defenses end up with 11 guys, how you mix and match them lends itself to creativity.

tight end/wide receiver hybrids -> linebacker/safety hybrids

it's amazing how many good middle linebackers from the 80s would be way too slow nowadays. ("Well of course they'd be slow nowadays, they're 50!" you know what i mean)

I hope so. I LOVE, LOVE the 4-2-5. You have a lot of flexibility with that fifth DB, if you have a fast LB you can give different looks between that, a hard hitting SS, and a regular cover DB, and it's almost like running an Okie all game. Very interesting defense.

Interestingly, at lunch I was looking at the Pats participation stats for their game vs. the Titans yesterday, and they played a 4-2-5 the vast majority of the game.

The fact that teams are seemingly passing more and more every year essentially makes the nickel defense the base defense for most folks out there anyway.

It's not a true nickel though. That's the beauty of it.

I like the idea of the 4-2-5. Especially with all that speed. Do you think DM would consider moving Myles Davis back there. I know he has been injury prone but seemed to be a great recruit at the position before he got hurt.

It's widely assumed he was moved to FB because of his legs. And now he's out for the year with a presumptive knee injury. It's not going to happen.
