Exciting Non-Conference Slate Awaits @CuseWBB #OrangeNation http://bit.ly/1t9t4BJ

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Seven games at the Carrier Dome and two trips south for tournaments highlight the Syracuse women's basketball 2014-15 non-conference schedule. The 13-game slate features four games against teams from other major conferences, including a pair of top-10 teams.

Aside from playing in the ACC, the nation's premier women's basketball conference, the Orange, coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and the program's first tournament victory, has a challenging non-conference schedule built to prepare the team for postseason play.

Syracuse could face up to four teams ranked in the top 20 in the final Associated Press Poll last season. The Orange could potentially face No. 8 South Carolina in the Bahamas on Nov. 28, hosts No. 14 Penn State in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 4 at the Carrier Dome, and then faces No. 5 Baylor on Dec. 19 and No. 20 Michigan State the next day, both in Orlando.

"I think this non-conference schedule is really well balanced," head coach Quentin Hillsman said. "It provides us with some tough tests against other top teams from major conferences that will prepare us for ACC and postseason play."

The Orange will compete in a pair of tournaments during non-conference play. Over Thanksgiving, the team will head to Freeport in the Bahamas for the Junkanoo Jam. SU will face East Carolina in its opening game on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27) before playing either South Carolina or Wisconsin the following day. In December, the Orange will go to Orlando, Fla. for the Orlando Sunshine Tournament, playing Baylor on Dec. 19 and Michigan State on Dec. 21.

Syracuse opens the 2014-15 season on Sunday, Nov. 16 at the Carrier Dome when it takes on 2014 Atlantic 10 Champion Fordham in a 2 p.m. tip-off. Other non-conference Dome dates include: Vermont (Dec. 1), Penn State (Dec. 4), N.C. Central (Dec. 14), Canisius (Dec. 16), Cornell (Dec. 28) and Central Connecticut State (Dec. 30).

The Orange plays two true road games in its second and third contests of the season, going to Duquesne on Nov. 19 and Jacksonville on Nov. 22.

Syracuse's ACC schedule is expected to be announced soon.

Season ticket deposits are on sale now for the 2014-15 season and are $25 each. To place a deposit, visit Cuse.com, call 1-888-DOMETIX (select option two), or visit the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
