With the win, Syracuse has registered at least 17 victories in eight straight seasons. It was a balanced effort overall, as six players scored at least six points at Georgia Tech (14-10, 4-6). Three players scored in double-figures for the 19th time in 2014-15 in Atlanta. Junior guard Brianna Butler and sophomore guard Alexis Peterson each tallied 14 points. Sophomore center Briana Day was two rebounds shy of a double-double, tallying 12 points and eight rebounds. From the tip, Syracuse (17-7, 7-4) jumped out to an early advantage. Behind 3-point field goals from Butler and sophomore forward Isabella Slim, the club opened with a 12-2 advantage in the first six minutes of the game. Behind six 3-point field goals, the Orange was able to build a 14-point lead with 4:20 remaining in the first frame. Butler and Slim each knocked down two 3-point field goals in the first half, while junior guard Cornelia Fondren and Peterson each had one. Holding a 35-22 lead with two minutes remaining in the first half, Georgia Tech was able to use a late run to cut in the Syracuse advantage. The Yellow Jackets scored an 8-0 run over the final two minutes of play to make it a 35-30 game headed into the locker room. Out of the break, Syracuse replicated its start from the opening 20 minutes. Up five points with 17:44 to go, the Orange outscored the Yellow Jackets, 13-3, to take a 50-35 lead with 13:22 remaining in regulation. The run was highlighted by senior guard Diamond Henderson diving for a loose ball and finding junior forward Taylor Ford for a lay-up while still on the ground. From there, the visiting Orange led by at least 10 points until the final two minutes of the contest when Georgia Tech made it an eight-point game. Syracuse held off the late run by the host and secured its third victory away from home in ACC play. The Syracuse women's basketball team returns home on Thursday night when its hosts ACC-foe Miami at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Thursday night's contest is the annual Play 4Kay game, as well.
