I checked and there were 9 seasons between 1889 and 1931 when we only lost one game. Add in the uncontested 1959 title and that comes to a total of ten titles. I figure there would be some formula that could be applied to the 9 one loss seasons that would work.

Of course, the big challenge will be to legitimize the 1889 title when we came off of an 0 & 1 season !!!

Make that 11 time champs - we also only lost once in 1935.

1959 is not uncontested. Mississippi claims to have won the national championship even though they ended up finishing in a tie for second place in the SEC.
