TT has been down for years in a big conference, similar to us. Kingsbury is a great offensive mind, like Dino but its obvious that most of TT's energy, recruiting, and scheming is on the offensive side of the ball. We cant become this. This isnt a negative post, just our trajectory is much like TT's. TT is brutal on defense and fast and fun on offense.

1 loss. 2 games in. That's not a trajectory yet

Very true. Alot of that post is premised on the questionable T2. TT gas obviously only recruited on the offensive side of the ball. They have an offensive minded HC as do we. Much discussion about this on the Sirius college station.

Yeah maybe in year 3 if our defense sucks. This staff has only one recruiting class under its belt of players specifically recruited for these systems.

No its a premature post. Babers history is quite different than Kingsbury. Let's give the guy a chance.

Yes, i get it, and love dino and company. Thing is, dino has never stopped anyone on his escalation to a p5 job. First look at the T2 defense against this kinda competition.

Let's face it the cupboard is really bare. We are weak everywhere on D. Our best defensive player is 5'8" and will lose every 50-50 ball in the ACC.
There does not appear go be anyone who has a chance to play on Sundays at this point. Certainly some of the kids will improve but they will have to do so without a great supporting cast. Thus problem has been brewing for a few years. Babers will need couple of classes to fix it.

We don't need to scare up any demons. Let's just see what happens.

Agreed. Get the offense humming first, fix the d to be just slightly below average and we will be successful. Dino Babers will never have a lockdown defense, ain't happening. I'm fine winning 56-53

That is undoubtedly the key. Improve the offense, and we'll win games. Especially against peer programs that we've struggled against in recent years. Once we start winning games and scoring lots of points, it will be easier for this staff--which is already showing some impressive chops on the recruiting trail--to "sell" the program. Wins begat "better" recruits, which in turn begat more success on the field.

If we're still having the same defensive issues in 2 years, then the glare is going to firmly affix on Ward and a change might be in order. Far too early for that, especially given the personnel on D this season.

Ultimately, your last sentence is telling. That's our future--shootouts. It is a change / different mindset that the fanbase is going to have to get used to. It worked for Baylor, it worked for Houston. We don't have to get 5 star recruits to make it work--on either side of the ball. Just some upgrades.
