This three game losing streak should reinforce what many already knew. This is not a team that can win when it does not shoot well. Yes Gillon's poor play has been a big factor too but as I said earlier this season Gillon being able to drive and be a threat is highly dependent on him being able to be a threat from deep. Our D has be marginally better but its peak is not good enough to overcome off shooting nights.

Andrew White is 6 for his last 26 from deep.
John Gillon is 5 for his last 20. (and almost all his makes were end of game desperation time)
Tyler Lydon is 4 for his last 16.
Tyus Battle is 4 for his last 18.

I believe all of these guys were shooting over or about 40% after the winning streak..

Meanwhile Frank is 4 for his last 9. Go figure. This team generally wins when they shoot well. If they don't shoot well they don't have the defense to overcome that. That doesn't bode well for deep ACC or NCAA tournament runs (even if we somehow sneak in), but we can beat anyone when we multiple guys get hot.

Quality of the shots will be key too. Can we generate good shots against the remaining schedule. Obviously UL and GT can defend and Duke is getting better and better at both ends. Can't not make the defense work by playing hot potato, wasting the shot clock, and then launching bad 3s. It's almost March for crying out loud.

True but our offense has never had much flow it's a ton of ISO ball and Gillon driving off a pick. AWIII creates his own shot, and Gillon when he's on will drain from NBA range to bring his man out for driving and (preferably) passing. Our offense is generally good because we have four 40% shooters (and even TT can hit from 15-18 ft).

Duke is still bad on D... hopefully it gives us a chance to get our shooters going again because they are going to hit a lot of 3s on our defense. 5'9 Gillon is going to get lit up outside I fear.
