We got a non-conference schedule for 2014...

Central Michigan had a home game scheduled with NC State that NC State bought out of. I am glad we picked up that game its a very winnable road game against a MAC team and hopefully we got a 2 for 1.

Three VERY winnable games heading into Notre Dame at Met Life. Would the ACC schedule a game for 9/6? Or will that almost assuredly be a bye?

I like the way this schedule is set up a lot - wish it was the schedule for this year's team.

so 4 unlikely (fsu, ville, clemson, nd) and 8 where we have a shot. winning 6/8 is not going to be easy. ugh.

hoping strong and duke's coach head for greener pastures after this season.

Perfect...right in this coaching staff's recruiting sweet spot..
Didn't think about that, but you're right.

Nice to see we're opening the season a little bit less aggressively.

Not sure why people are questioning the game at Central Michigan. The days when you can pay a MAC team to come to your place for a one-off game are essentially done. I assume CMU will be visiting SU in 2015 or 2016.

I like that SU is only playing two BCS level teams. I would also have been happy with just one.

I like that SU is opening with an FCS team. The last time SU opened the season in the Dome against a non-BCS conference team (if I am not mistaken) is 1993 vs. Ball State.

There are a few reasons to dump on Herm Frazier, but this is not one of them. This schedule is ok by me.

We are likely going to be playing an ACC game week 2. The ACC plays conference games throughout the entire season even in the first 4 weeks when most non-conference games are played. I could see Duke or Wake Forest being our week 2 opponent for an easy ACC GOTW.

I guess this means that 9/6 will be a conference game. Kind of early in the season, but that's ok.

Meh...I'll take a stab...

A visit to a NY team in the MAC > a visit to a Michigan team in the MAC.

NC State, Wake, Pitt, and Louisville all have 9/6 open right now.

Honestly I like the easy opponent but I hope we got a 2 for 1. If we only got a 1 for 1 then Syracuse didn't use any leverage. CMU had a home game scheduled with NC State after playing 2 games in Raleigh that NC State bought out of. If SU was smart they would have told CMU we will play at your place next year but we want 2 home games with a good sized buyout since we will be your BCS replacement for NC State who screwed you.

I dont mind the schedule at all but @ Central Michigan seems very odd, as Bees noted above its another 6 game home schedule and theres zero marque OOC games as ND is of course at Metlife. Still I would much rather play Central Michigan on the road then Oklahoma or some other nonsensical game at home.

Two other points about playing at a MAC school:

1. SU has played at Akron, Toledo and MiamiOH in the recent past, so I'm not sure why it would surprise anyone that SU would do it again.

2. With BCS teams MD (Dome) and ND (MetLife) already on the schedule, SU needed a road game. And there was no way that it made sense to play that road game at another BCS school.

The games at CMU may be great.

How close is CMU to all the Illinois kids we seem to always target?
