We got a roster update...

I think I counted 23 seniors.

Sean Riley
Chris Fredrick
Antwan Cordy
Evan Foster
Sterling Hofrichter
Clayton Welch
Andrew Armstrong
Carl Jones
Duwayne Johnson
Scoop Bradshaw
Moe Neal
Kenneth Ruff
Lakiem Williams
Shaquille Grosvenor
Kendall Coleman
Evan Adams
Ryan Alexander
Andrejas Duerig
Alton Robinson
Brandon Berry
McKinley Williams
Jake Pickard

And a couple of walk-ons.

Not to change gears to a recruiting argument, but for everyone ringing their hands about how the 2020 class looks not up to snuff I point to Anthony Red. He is listed as a starter on the depth chart. He was rated 0.8262 and had offers from Cuse, Buffalo, UMASS and Temple. When the coaches identify a guy early and lock on, I think they know what they are looking for. Off my soap box, as you were...

I thought Duwayne Johnson was going to be an impact guy for us, but I don't think he's seen te field much at all.

Surprised Carl Jones is a senior, didn't think he'd been here that long.

Williams being a senior bums me out. That's a great example of a guy that played early and did some nice things, but man, I would trade that true freshman season for whatever a redshirt senior season could look like from him. Feel the same way about Ruff.

Moving this info from the depth chart thread:

Wow. Lots of interesting stuff here.

Foster: I thought another poster said he gained even more weight this offseason but it looks like he actually dropped from 223 to 215. I'm fine with that.

Black: For as strong and ripped as he is, he actually lost a couple pounds from last year which is a little disappointing to me. Down to 270.

Okechukwu from 240 last year to 261 this year is nice to see. Seems like there is a good shot he will be one in the DT rotation next year.

Jason Munoz coming in at 243 is actually disapointing. I thought it was reported he was heavier than this already. Really want him to be big enough to play DT and we need size for 2020 which does not give guys too much time.

Bergeron coming in at 311 is very nice.

Lakeim WIliams drop from 234 to 225 is interesting. Lost some bad weight I assume which should make him super fast.

Elmore from 282 last year to 295 lbs this year. Wow. That is a big HB, FB, TE or whatever you want to call him. I know they like him on offense but with his size and speed I don't think a change to DT next year is out of the question.

Pickard down from 251 to 234 is peculiar. I doubt he plays much if at all but was that planned by him strategically or is he just not hitting the gym?

McKinly Williams from 295 to 282 is interesting. Seems our staff is preferring strong but extra agile guys more than extra beef.

Cam Jordan up from 202 to 216. That's beastly. Interesting to see if he can earn some PT.

Garrison Johnson coming in at a large 237. I'm going to guess that may not all be clean weight.

Abdul Adams down from 209 to 202 means this kid will be blazing and play in an all purpose back role for sure.

Heckel down from 294 to 280 lbs is strange to me. Especially since they have him penciled in a guard currently. I think he moves back to Center though.

Servais down from 293 to 273 is a bit baffling. I'm guessing they really want him mobile at Tackle even though he is currently listed at Center.

Ryan Alexander coming in at 307 is great. I am guessing he works himself into a starter role.

Evan Adams bulking up even more from 326 to 352 is pretty shocking. That is enormous.

The Media Guide has different weights than the roster listed alone on the athletics website. For example Munoz is listed at 6'4 276.

Some of the weight transformations are incredible in the positive direction. Mo Neal clocking in at 195.

How about some of the wideouts ? big.

Evan Adams at 6-6 352 ? Servais checks in at 273 and Vetterolo up to 289.

I think I counted 23 seniors.
I wonder if the weight for Airon Servais is wrong? He was listed at 293 in 2018, 305 in 2017 and 291 in 2016. How could he only be 273 this year? I bet he is actually 293 again. I have seen pictures of his recently. If anything, he is bigger than last year.

This is not to suggest that the weight is listed incorrectly.

But during spring, I remember seeing information about Servais's transition to tackle, where he discussed how the focus of his off-season work was to slim down and optimize his athleticism, to enable him to move his feet better to handle pass rushers.

I know he shifted back to C partway through spring practice due to Heckel having an injury, but I'm wondering if the plan all along is to shift him back out to tackle. Hard to envision him holding up inside at 6-6 273.

282 before the spring game. Summer conditioning, easy to lose 9 lbs.

SU may not be playing games, but I'm always skeptical of "published" heights and weights.

Haven't we seen some basketball players measured a few inches shorter by the NBA than we have been told they were during their college careers? Of course, one measurement might have been in bare feet and the other in Air Jordans.

I once naively told one of my HS coaches that the Program was incorrect and that it had me listed 15 lbs heavier and 2 inches taller than I was. He laughed at me and told me the weights and heights were for the benefit of the opposing team.

I usually deduct an inch for height. I'm not sure of the shell game they play with weights but I think the weights are generally accurate.

Our ends look fine but our interior looks lighter than usual. Ruff at 308 is nice but Black at 270? Williams at 282? Speed is important but so is size at that position. If we had more depth there I would be less concerned due to rotations. Dunno. Black is obviously a beast but even work out warriors will fatigue early when getting hit by 310 to 340 pound Olines. Not saying our guys need to be all 320 either. This will be a position to watch. Hopefully our schedule has our off week mid schedule to give those guys some mid season recovery.

I would expect most of the DL/OL to add a good 10 -20 lbs before game one. Summer conditioning has a way of melting off any extra pounds lol.
