Coleman is fine. His rust is a bigger issue than his health right now.

As far as the team goes I'm unsure good or bad right now. Talent is there.

I think the keys to the team are Malachi and Lydon. I think we know Roberson, G, and Cooney will produce the most, but even the freshman play like a freshman year Brandon Triche and not a freshman year Kaleb Joseph that will be good for this team.

Rust and the fact that he hasn't actually produced on the court at any point. Not knocking him, but he's got questions beyond rust and conditioning (though those may be the top two).

To me, the greatest ray of hope is that JB generally does his best work when his teams are considered afterthoughts. Especially if he has some vets to work with. Cooney/Gbinije/Roberson/Coleman isn't a super exciting group of vets but if each contributes something and they get something from the frosh, then who knows? Having said that, I don't think middle of the pack in the ACC is too bad a prediction based on what everyone knows, which is that this team is going to have to answer some serious questions before they even get into the teeth of the ACC schedule and start fighting for an NCAA tourney spot. Not unprecedented for them to do just that, but still some matzo balls hanging out there.

I get it, but with everything you've brought up we still have some major major question marks. You, me, JB, doctors, and DC himself has no idea what he'll be able to contribute this season. Even if we go REALLY high and say he's playing 30 minutes a game we still have a black hole not only on offense but defense as well with Chinoso manning the 5.

If there is one program in the country that doesn't know what to expect out of freshman players it should be us. Outside of Ennis we have not exactly been "lucky" when it comes to freshman coming in and lighting it up. McCullough was possibly our biggest recruit since Melo that came in and even with his accolades and first round talent he didn't exactly light it up. What separates him and Lydon? What make these freshman so much better than the freshman that have come in the past years? What makes them more ready?

I'm a huge Cooney fan, but what is making him more more efficient shooting? I honestly believe he can hit 40%+ from 3 and hope he does, but if Lydon or Richardson look like they're not going to cut it early on whether it's on defense or whatever keeps them off the floor and Cooney is back to bulk shooting he's going to have similar seasons as his past two.

I'm not being negative, I'm not saying it's not possible that we're in the top 5 of the ACC but there are just as many things going against us as for us.

How do we have more depth than usual? We have nobody behind a center that we'll be lucky to get 25 minutes a game from. We have a freshman PG/SG that will be lucky to get 5 minutes a game. Outside of that we're rolling with Joseph, Cooney, Richardson, Silent G, Lydon, Roberson, and Coleman. That's 7 guys that are legit guys who are going to be getting minutes and who'd I'd consider trusted, 2 are freshman who are wild cards and DC is the ultimate wild card. Depth is not a word I'd use to describe this team.

Again, we could be good but there is just too many variables IMO that put us in the top 5 of the ACC, maybe the biggest one is not having a HOF coach on the sideline for 9 league.

Once again two3zone there with his famous "I'm not being negative but" quote only to read what he says is negative once again. I know you are only being realistic. Silly me to think you were coming off as negative.

So there is nothing I've said that is a legit concern for this coming season? Newsflash, I'm not the only one in this world that doesn't believe we'll be excellent this year hence our pre-season ranking.

You can think about what you want of me and that's fine, but there isn't one game that we've played since I started watching in the 80s that I wasn't rooting for us just as hard as anybody else or cheering louder than anybody else in the Dome. You won't see anybody more proud of our guys whether we win or lose, but I'm just not blind, I'm not biased, and I speak about what I see. If you want to poo poo on me over that so be it, it's your opinion and if you get your jollies off over it, enjoy.

Seeing Notre Dame, Miami, Florida St., and NC State listed ahead does not sit right with me. 9th? Behind those schools? Just disrespectful. It fires me up, so I can't imagine how much that should fire our team up.

We will not finish in 9th place this season, I am very confident of that.
