We had this game

Now that I've had a night to sleep on it, I realize I've been guilty of expecting the freshmen to play like juniors. Mea culpa. At least they never quit. The moral is, of course, NEVER SCHEDULE A GOOD TEAM ON THEIR SENIOR DAY!-VBOF

But the thing is, we don't have a "normal" game! We have never played to our abilities except in the Bahamas. THAT was who we were. We play timidly. We could have won this game. We had so many opportunities.

If TWO of our players in any given game stepped up and took the game on their shoulders, we would be winning going away. If FOUR, we are unstoppable.

My Carolina friends do not feel they looked too good.

I hate to say this, but is it possible we played above our abilities in the Bahamas, and what we saw last night is closer to our normal? I tend to say "no" and it's somewhere in the middle. Losing sucks, but UNC and their bigs are a horrible matchup for us. Given our poor shot selection and numerous offensive fouls that seemed to kill momentum, I thought we did pretty well to keep it close. Win Saturday and we'll feel good heading into Slection Sunday.

UNC made more 3's. Shot better % from the field. Out rebounded us by 6 overall and 7 on the offensive glass. Had less turnovers. But we had a chance to tie with under 20 seconds left.

Is there ANYTHING more frustrating as a Syracuse Basketball fan than watching two guards pass the ball back & forth at the top of the zone, doing nothing in particular, for 15 seconds, and the end-result is a WIDE-OPEN 22-footer for the opponents' All-American guard?

This must have happened 5 times last night.
