Shame on you. I thought, what now?

Hope he doesn't transfer and should look at what Fab did as a sophomore.

It really pisses me off! I know he can help us win, his D isn't that bad and he gets a ton of rebounds and he can score.

Can't seen I've seen much evidence of any of those three things. Especially the last two.

He'll play vs. Montana. IF we get to Indiana, he might have to play due to foul trouble as well.

He hasn't gotten any PT, otherwise you would have. It seems BMK and Rak got tossed around under the hoop but they can't do that to DC. Rak has to get his stuff straight, he has way too many skills to look this bad.

Agree about Rakeem. His play has been disappointing lately, even considering the ridiculous quick hooks.

Don't doubt that Coleman would have been better with more minutes. He's a lost cause for this season now, though. Never got the game reps he needed to be a decent defender (though he works hard), the rebounding wasn't as good as advertised, and the offensive game was a nightmare.

Here's to a summer of hard work from him (and three weeks of great play from Baye).

a. he is playing vs montana
b. suprisingly <--imo---> he has kept a great attitude. I see him smiling on the bench, talking and cheering. not boo hooing as far as i can tell.

I gotta say, if true, I like that a lot. I may have written this season off for him - but I certainly havent written off his career.

I've maintained this stance all along. He is done for the season. I dont see him playing one more minute. Kind of like MCW last year. Everyone thought he would get some PT in the NCAA's and he never got off the bench once.

I think I get your drift ;)

I can see Baye and Rak getting into foul trouble. In comes DaJuan- and he contributes 8 points and 6 rebounds helping us pull out a win. Or maybe not.

His D, or lack of it, is the biggest reason he doesn't play.

Honest question...when one of guys doesn't play why is the presumption that he'll transfer? I've never understood this. Have any of you been a freshman stuck on the bench? It sucks but the first thought isn't always transfer...yet on here it is

Plus if you transfer you are guaranteed another year of not playing.

We didn't really have a blow out game in the NCAAs last year. We were in control against KState most of the time, but it's not like we were up by 25. When I said earlier that I thnk DC will play vs. Montana, I'm assuming we'll be up around 20 at the 8 minute mark in the 2nd half, and he'll check in.

Exactly. I've totally noticed how excited he's been on the bench. Good job by him.

Someone would have a tough time convincing me that Coleman can get to the level of Ricky or Arinze depending on where he ends ups. To me both were much better basketball players. I don't see much from Coleman at this point but next year is the big year for him, He lacks athleticism and size is good but at this level won't get you over the top.

I think a lot of that will depend on what Coleman does with his conditioning and weight. I would love to see him drop some pounds and add a little explosiveness to his game. There were way too many times when he was under the rim and either got stuffed by opposing centers/forwards because he would just bunny hop for a layup or got stripped by opposing guards because he tried to put it on the floor for a single dribble (I know that often had to do with his position when he got the ball though). There was one occasion where Coleman went up strong for the dunk and I loved seeing that from him. That's what he needs to get used to doing. I don't think Coleman will ever be what Rick was for us, but I wouldn't completely rule out seeing Coleman develop into a sort of AOv2, just with more finesse to his game rather than always "big boying" the defender to get his points.

Before the San Diego State game, a couple pro scouts saw two practices and thought Coleman was the best pro prospect amongst both teams. Not sure what that's worth, but I would bet his sophomore year could yield the offensive version of what Fab did (especially on D) in year two.

That said, I know nothing.

Jackson and Onuaku didn't exactly light it up as freshman. Both showed flashes, but I would argue that in certain games Coleman has shown flashes. To me there are two areas he needs to improve upon. He needs to learn his role in the 2-3 better and he needs to stop bringing the ball down low when he receives a pass or gets a rebound. Those are two things many big men struggle with and two things that can be remedied with work. Think about how rare it is for SU to have a center come in and be even halfway decent as a freshman. The difference the last three years with Melo, Rak and Coleman (earlier in the year) is that JB has seen the potential and is willing to give them some court time in an effort to speed up their development. It's a huge change going from being the tallest guy in the court every game in HS to playing against teams with multiple players your height or taller.

offensively I think he's already much better than Baye or Rakeem, but his defense is what's gotten him pulled out in every game. He's been out of position many times, leading to easy baskets...and I wouldn't be surprised if Boeheim believes that we need to win with our D this year more than our offense.

That said, I would have liked to seen him get more minutes in hopes that his D improved as the year went on. Love his energy and I think he's going to develop into a very strong low post player.

He will be fine. Work your ass off in the off season, drop a few pounds and commit to the gym and he will be worlds better in the fall. If he does this he cant fail.

DC seems so fundamentally flawed that I just don't see much improvement. He just can't gather himself quickly for any kind explosive movement and as has been noted by multiple posters, he has not shown any improvement with learning to keep the ball high. Now having said that, I hope he proves me wrong and goes on to be the dominant player that many thought he could be.

Likewise - great demeanor. And he has worked hard in his court time; it just hasn't paid off yet.
