I hate to place so much on the first game but we cant go 0-2 to start the year. I truly believe that if we beat NW we will have a good year and make a bowl. If not i could actually see us ending up 4-8.
I keep going back on my prediction for the year but i would be pleased at 6-6 thrilled at 7-5. Pat is a very good coach and he will have his team ready for Syracuse. It is imperative that we come out strong and play to win. NW is going to score points and i believe that we will need 24 to win this game. I know we all hold high hopes for a miracle in NYC but you cant count on Miracles and if SU and USC played 10 times this year USC would win 8 at a minimum so we have to plan on that being a loss. Minnesota will be tough at home but it is a game we can win. Depending on the NW game i can see us starting 3-1 or 1-3. Should be a great game. Lets hope that the closed door policy pays off.

We'll beat NW. I really think they could get caught looking past us with their focus on Big Ten play. SU, on the other hand, needs to focus on every game as a must win.

Also, I'm more concerned with Stony Brook than I am with Minnesota but we'll be 3-1 at worst after 4 games.

It will certainly help but I don't see it as a must win for a Bowl. IMO we should beat SB, UConn, and Temple. So that means we have to go 3-4 against @Minn, Pitt (Fri night with two weeks to prepare), @RU, @USF, @Cincy, Louisville, @Mizzou. That won't be easy but certainly do able. Heck I certainly can see SU winning 5 straight after the USC game. The most important thing for me is that we play well against NW. I think (or hope) that finally as a team we will get better as the year goes on.

Deja vu. Lather, Rinse, Repeat. This post is repeated every year first game but with a different team name. Yet I agree completely. Sets the tone for the whole season.

We can recover from a NW loss but it would make Minnesota as close to a must win as possible. Big East is easier with the trip to Temple instead of the trip to Morgantown but still, I wouldn't want to rely on 5 Big East wins or a win at Mizzou as our only paths to the a bowl.

I know it's not the point of the post, but good lord, "closed door policy". They practiced in the middle of a barracks complex for week. Every practice was open if you wanted to go, and could get on the base. Almost half of every practice is open to the media and Rahme has full access.

Yeah, I'll admit that I expected the preseason to be much more closed than it was. Other than maybe 2009, this has been the most open preseason I can remember in recent history. Seemed to go by faster than I can remember as well.
