From a zone defensive defiant entity to an offensive monster. Don’t blink as things change rapidly. Crazy! Who would have thunk it. What if our defense kicks in? I’m getting a little giddy.

We are a juggernaut right night not knowing where the heck we end up

certainly not you

this is why many advise us to relax and see how things play out rather than whipsawing from one extreme to the other based on the most recent game half

At the very least with recruiting, we dont have those ugly battle/howard years of offense where we were scoring 50 points a game and try to sell our offense to recruits. Center is a different story and honestly, If I was a center, I would NEVER come here but guards and forwards...you cant do much better in terms of freedom and opportunities especially forwards.

i don't know about that . . . maybe not the big bruising type of center, but if i'm a skilled, high post center, i look at the way jb runs his offense through marek and i put them at or near the top of my list

Marek is a forward though...being forced to play center
of course

but . . . he's playing center. and the offense is running through him. high post centers will notice that.

I honestly don't think it is our offense that scares quality centers away. It's our defense and the idea that the kid will have to sprint out to the corner to guard a 3 that he will never get to block. Maybe a Marek or a Hak can do that but a real center, no way. if we ever got a center that could score on the low block I have no doubt that we would attempt to get him the ball early and often. It's this ridiculous thing we ask our centers to do that no other team in the history of basketball has ever asked their center to do.

But there isnt high post centers anymore. That’s died faster than the low post centers. It’s legit just Joker and Bam who play high post and it’s cuz they can pass better than 80% of guards. I get what you mean though. Forwards have moved to that “spot”. Centers in the league have to be able to pick n pop or pick and roll and be like Marc Gasol and be able to sit at the three.

i don't think we've transitioned to anything. the team is being coached like they've always been, and the only reason you're seeing slightly different things is because of injuries.

it's pretty obv this offense needs to do things differently without sid to to play at a higher level..

it was pretty alarming that quincy seemed like the only open shooter last game as well

they've really been very fortunate gutting out wins in those 3 games vs pretty inferior teams.

JB must be really ahead of his time with vision for position-less defense.

They need Sidibe playing to get the offense right? Really?

When Sid gets back, press without sidibe full court half court some sort of zone, I dont care. Would like to see that when up sometimes. 13+ a game. Work JBA and Newton for the press. JBA after Dole picks up too many, would solve every foul need, and woody can sub for the 2 and 3. There is no reason to be leaving opposing drivers with one man to beat to get to the basket without a true center. 7 deep with two extra point 5 men.

when sid comes back it should really open up the perimeter, and everything else on offense. not to mention anchor the 2/3 and not allow for easy baskets on defense. many peeps outside of here don't realize how much better he was late last year for SU. i don't have the stats in front of me but he was double/double plenty.

i know many here would love to see changes in the way we play offense and defense, and i would be lying if i said we're playing to our strength on BOTH sides with our roster right now without sid...i mean, c'mon how much ugliness on both side of the ball do you need see that it isn't the best strat for the team...yet as i say this SU is 6-1 and has had a couple of insane shooting games like we've never seen before, .so jimmy gonna do what jimmy do and ride it out..

.i still think this is a very special team if sid comes back strong and plays the same way he did late last year.

hopefully sid will come back next year. we can absorb losing marek and not miss a beat next year, sid, not so much. but i say this thinking sid has turned the corner in a big way
.

I'm with you on his impact on defense. It will definitely help. But him coming back means we are most likely going to lose a shooter on offense. And he's just a garbage man out there. We don't run plays for him, and he's not posting up on the low block and taking someone off a great pass from Marek. So no, our offense does NOT get better with him out there.

I think we have transitioned from a team that sits back in a zone and only plays 7 or 8 guys to a team that plays...oh, well, we have a lot more games left
We aren't anything for the next 10 days due to Buffalo being idiots. This will take away conditioning, shooting the 3 ball practice, practice, everything including the ND game. I think JAB should have the team, (individuals), run 5 miles a day until we are allowed to resume. Due to the lack of conditioning/ practice we'll likely go to Wake then NC and get the sh$$ beat out of us. Damn, this sucks.
