We held Rutgers to less than 3 yards per play. And lost

We need a new coach. Our D is nasty and we have some nice pieces. The right coach could salvage this.
Sure could...problem would be that a majority of those guys that make the D great would transfer elsewhere.

whats up with schmidt missing the short 43 yarder and having no leg?

I think you called it earlier. It was a replica of the Grob WVU game. today’s O might have been a bit better but not by much. BAD sign for the rest of the year.
We have a good rb, decent receivers, okay o-line, in shrader I think we have a decent qb the right offense. We are missing a coach who can build the right offense. There is talent here.

Such a weird game and a weird spot the program is in right now.

The entire defense felt like 90 pct of the time they knew what their job was and effectively got it done.

On offense it feels so fractured. Outside Tisdale getting demolished on the sack fumble I felt the OL knew their jobs and did it pretty well. Blitz pickup was adequate if not pretty good.

The RBs seemed to do pretty well too.

Felt like we missed Rhino a lot. Mang was still good but the step up showed he is still learning.

Once you look at the the QB position, play calling and wideout play it feels like a disconnected mess. Indecisive, sometimes not sure what they should be doing, poor reads on some plays, poor calls on others, dropped balls, poor throws and head scratching decisions at critical times.

Special teams is also a discombobulated mess as well.

So overall we have one side of the ball ready to go every game and matchup with anyone. The other side has some elements that are functioning and know their jobs while the other elements are just lost. I don't have faith or even a strong sense of hope the struggling elements are going to figure it out. I do have hope that the program could be ok with a change if done properly and holding on to what we know works.
Need to sit all the WR except for Harris, play the 3 TE, they can block are big targets, and might hold on to a few throws, and make a few yards after catch.

It’s possible holding onto DB through the whole season we lose every good thing we have on the team. White, our TE’s, players on D and shrader - he can’t be happy after these two games. Now it’s so easy to hop in the portal. We might need to boot DB mid season to not lose every important asset the team still has.
Not real concerned about Shrader. Unimpressive QB.

Because we’ve had such great luck recruiting QB’s that having depth isn’t a concern?

I say again… as a defender i would be so pissed at my counterparts
They will be, and then add in a little extra internal dissension with the qb situation if he stubbornly sticks with devito further splitting the locker room where many in it likely know GS gives them a better chance to win, and then we will have all the ingredients for another season like last year.

Here’s hoping he surprises us and we see a change, but that’s unlikely. If so and things stay as is with some terminal stubbornness, then we’ll find ourselves saying Who knew we have another “meathead” coach here so commonly found in the sport.

I really thought and was hoping he was a different animal, no such luck as driven home today with a stick to and through the heart. Officially off the Dino fan boy wagon.

I wouldn't be so sure of this. Wildhack isn't going to sit on his hands and not start the process if we say lose to Liberty and then FSU/WF/Clemson. Amazingly we've lived through these coaching changes now 4x. Some were disorganized (Pasqualoni), some were snap (Marrone) and others were thoughtful/due diligent process (Shafer/GROB).

I would prefer to rip the bandaid off if this is inevitable
Wildhack has demonstrated this foresight and vision in his tenure this far? I am not on the train that believes he has a plan.

Those 99/00 teams look like the Greatest Show on Turf compared to our O the past 2 seasons.
I know I chose my words carefully with “relatively speaking.” ;)

You must have not seen FSU lose to Jacksonville State last night. They are now 0-2 with the fans trending on twitter calling for him to be fired. Twitter is so full of fire the coach fans.

And Duquesne beat Ohio yesterday. What does that say about our win over Ohio?

Nothing. But FSU losing to a non P5 says something.
Notre Dame almost losing to Toledo says something.

Look at the schedule from yesterday and all the non P5 schools that lost to ACC schools. What does it say. Nothing.

Don’t just look at the final score, look at how they lost.

First Dino cost his team 7 points and then he gave up on the team with the punt decision on their side of the field. It’s not the first time he’s given up either.

What exactly was he flagged for? Coming on the field? They never showed it in the telecast.

As for the punt decision, that one left me shaking my head. Nothing says "I don't trust my offense" like punting in a situation like that.

Maybe give him a full game to make some analysis. No one is saying he's the next big thing but maybe give him more than three series?

I hope he turns out to be great.

I was disappointed yesterday by his lack of accuracy and slow pace.

But, you’re right - he needs more time

Does anyone have a take on what Babers needs to do at this point?

Summed up in one word, maybe only two letters? Rhymes with blow?

Yeah he may turn out to be bad but not necessarily so. Tommy is a 5th year player and still stinks. Go with Garrett and see what he’s got

If I’m the coach I go with Tommy

And Thursday evening Lousiana beat Ohio 49 to 14. What does that say about our win over Ohio?
Louisiana's office put up 562 total yards.
