As for this thread, I think using a tight end would help a lot. What happened to simple ten yard routes right down the seam?

When we supposedly had fewer weapons we lived on the short passes to Philips over the middle. That seems to have all but disappeared. I wonder why. It doesn't seem like we're using the whole field and forcing the defense to pay attention to all of it.

Talented crew that plays hard but they look like high school kids compared to other WR units we see. Not a good game at QB but we have issues getting open.

I thought this last year when we played Notre Dame, it was glaring the size of their WRs

Their WRs were all big and made ours look like a JV team, size isn’t everything but it’s important and we def lack size at some key positions

They need to work on their scramble drill, but otherwise outside of Running back this is the unit in least worried about. Jackson is the most talented receiver we have had since Dino has been here. They other guys had their moments last year. I do think Johnson is hurt still, but we had guys open yesterday at times that the ball never came to them.

The ball didn't go to them because TD didn't see them or he was running from the rush?

Interesting point and I agree. I had a similar thought about receivers in general...the MD dbacks played lights out vs an SU group that I thought would have stood out more.
