Yeah. If there was still 41 seconds on the game clock when they started the 40 second 4th down play clock, then the clock operator would be under investigation today.

On the hindsight bright side, since it worked, I'm sure that was a nice confidence boost for the offense, and it probably needed it.

I agree about it being a nice boost for the O, but as a Syracuse fan that had disaster written all over it, some sort of mishap or fumble there would have been classic SU.

Yup. A head scratcher. (Same with refusing a penalty to get second and 3 as opposed to first and five. Although the latter wasn't a potential game changer. ) Someone has to ask HCDM why he didn't ask Nassib to take a knee? Maybe calculus is invoved? The TV crew never brought it up either.

For those who say stop complaining, if AAM or anyone coughed up the ball and a Pitt miracle happened,... there would have been a China Sydrome on this board. And there would not be any HCDM defenders.

It's not about complaining. I'm ecstatic as is everyone else on this board. However, there are times to take chances (like 4th down from their 32 versus USC - BTW nice to see that he learned from that one last night!) and times to take the 100% guarantee of victory by lining up in VICTORY formation. Running either of the last two plays made little to no sense, especially the last play.

My question is once Pitt used their final timeout, why didn't they just allow SU to score? It was their only opportunity for victory (not a great one but still ... there would've been a minute plus on the clock for a drive and possible two-point conversion to tie). Of course, I'd like to think that our RB would've chosen not to score and gone down before scoring the touchdown ... who knows.

Remember, though, most of these coaches went to college for football, not game theory.

Was really happy to see Marrone have enough confidence in his boys to say go win this game with a 1st down. Has a psychological effect on the team.

I can see both sides of the argument here...you are also assuming that the long snap is executed perfectly, the punter doesn't drop the ball, and Pitt doesn't block it.

I have supported Marrone but I think its time to start looking. We beat Pitt by scoring a defensive TD. Nassib imho is just adequate not a winner. Not drinking the victory cool aid on this win.
