We were outplayed tonight...

That being said had Bucknell not knocked down a few of those threes we win by 30..

If Bucknell shot a decent % this would have been a tight ballgame. Bucky had good ball movement and great looks all night long - any decent Big East team could have won tonight against that crap. Birdwatching and chasing quail is en vogue.

If I had tits and a tight ass I'd be in playboy.

Yawn...

Us: Complaining about beating a team that was picked to win the Patriot league by 20.

UConn: Saying they are the best team in America after beating the team picked to finish 3rd in the Patriot league by 30.

You so silly UConn.

If you subscribe to that defensive effort hoping the other team misses, you must also enjoy getting violated by Louisville and bounced in the 2nd round, as per usual. The blinders some people have...

I dont subscribe to anything. One bad defensive game and you come out like cockroaches in a crack house spewing your defensive ineptitude BS.

It isnt even fun anymore to argue with you.

if ifs and buts were candy and nuts it'd be christmas everyday.
you don't think JB would have made adjustments if they were hitting them?

The zone DOES subscribe to the belief that it will challenge shots from further away. Is this new news to you? And this team is pretty damn good defensively overall. Nineteen point win. Period.

Bucknell wanted us to score less then 60 tonight. We put up 80 and without Dion and Triche in the second half.

Game was never close after the 5-7 minute mark of the first half.
We were up double digits (actually atleast 13) the entire second half, and never had to put our best lineup in to keep it that way.

And if the queen had balls she'd be the king.

Tonight just further reinforced that our 2nd 5 could be a top 25 team. At about the 12 minute mark in the 1st half, our lineup was MCW-Waiters-Southerland-Fair-Melo(BMK was about to come in). How many teams could do that?

I'm not sure we were outplayed, but it was definitely one of the stranger coached games by JB. I'd go as far to say it was one of the worst coached games by JB.

Rak not getting inserted back in the first half after dominating the game for the first 5 minutes.

MCW getting extensive play in the second half, even though he continued to make mistake after mistake.

Lack of substitutions, Dion not playing much, Triche not playing much, Scoop playing almost the entire game, it goes on. I'd give JB a D+ for that coaching effort. Don't start around with the mental state of kids on this team.

The first half they were into it and then they coasted while JB gave out extra pt.
I liked what he did- it can only help MCW and Rak. Game was never
Close to being in doubt.

We shot 52.8 percent from the field and 47 percent from three. 8 for 17.
They shot 37 percent from the field and 31 percent from three.

We beat them in rebounds 35 to 23. Beat them in off ones 10-9 also.

We tied them in assists at 19. We had 4 more steals then them 5 more blocks then them.
We commited 10 fouls they commited 16.
We shot 21 free throws they shot 12.
They had 12 turnovers only but we only had 11.

Seriously, theres not one catagory they beat us in outside of free throw percentages. And we shot 76 from the line not to bad.

We bitch about players not getting game experience, then when coach gives it, we complain.

Who's bitching about giving younger players game experience? I'm glad Christmas and MCW got so much time, it will pay dividends later in the year. But if you were a neutral observer, Bucknell got better shots all game, regardless of who was in there. The zone offered zero resistance, regardless of personnel, and we are lucky they started 1-9 from three. Kjo made some pro shots, scoop hit some threes and we blew them out. That shouldn't mask a really bad defensive effort.

I think we've played great defense all year, and I'm not projecting this type of defensive effort moving forward, but seeing Bucknell carve us up with ball movement was troubling.

Scotch,

I agree with your thoughts, and was going to start a similar thread. I'm obviously very happy we won, but I would give our overall execution last night about a C-.

To be honest, I haven't been thrilled with the way the zone has played the past two games. Against NC State CJ Leslie (or was it CJ Williams?) kept getting wide open look after wide open look right in the middle of that zone.

People expecting an all out effort versus Bucknell are insane, IMO. MCW was allowed to play through a ton of mistakes. In addition, you could tell at the end of the game, that Scoop and the squad out there were working on certain offensive sets for the big guys. Love the work Hop is doing with the big guys. To me it was a glorified scrimmage and the team played that way, no big deal.

Let me ask you this, do you give the same effort at work every day?

I personally give a consistently mediocre effort every single day. I operate on a 20 minutes of work, 10 minutes of sports blogging rotation, give or take.

Wow people... learn to enjoy life a little. It's ok, I swear. The bball gods won't ruin our season if you smile once and a while.

I got through maybe 6 posts and had to quit on this thread... We won a game by 19... and "we were not into it" "we were outplayed" "the players should be ashamed of themsleves (really?????)", "worst coached game by JB".

Ppl here are ridiculous, and truly it's sad that a team can be #1 in the nation with a HOF coach, and still have doubt in the team, the team's focus/attitude, and the coach, his ability as a coach, and his intentions in the gameplan. Truly pathetic if you ask me.

There were at least two posters on the first page that made a complaint about substitution patterns and time given to a certain freshman player.

I'll answer your question first: no. And I was even worse in college, so I get it. I don't think it's anything to go nuts about but I do agree with the general premise that Bucknell had absolutely no problem generating open looks all night, particularly in the first half. They made up for it a bit in the second half by knocking down a few they probably had no business making, but the fact remains that we've now had two teams in a row consistently generating really, really good looks. That seems like cause for a bit of concern.

MCW gets more rope than most b/c, IMO, JB probably thinks there's a chance he could help up this season and a very distinct possibility that he could be one of two guards playing 32+ minutes next season (depending on Cooney's development and Waiters' decision about the future). Conversely Cooney is obviously not getting minutes and Xmas could help but will probably have a tough time finding minutes among Fair/Joseph/BK/Melo.
