DeMatha 79, Carroll 66

Coming off Saturday's loss to Washington Catholic Athletic Conference arch rival Gonzaga, DeMatha trailed Carroll 19-16 at the end of the first quarter. But the Stags ruled the second and third quarters, outscoring Carroll by 10 points in each period. BeeJay Anya had 18 points and Jerami Grant and James Robinson each had 16 for the Stags, who improved to 17-1 overall and 8-1 in the WCAC. DeMatha hit 28 of 35 from the foul line, while Carroll was 19 of 26 at the line. Riyan Williams led Carroll (10-7, 4-6)) with 21 points.

Hickson, Jason Thompson and Donte Greene are all eligible for Early Bird extension on account of being fourth-year players approaching restricted free agency. If the Kings do not reach agreements by the deadline, each player will become a restricted free agent on July 1, provided that the team extends qualifying offers to each.

DG THE STARTER – As mentioned, Greene got the start for Sac at small forward, but unfortunately, he didn’t exactly seize the opportunity. Defensively, Donte has always been solid and played a strong game against Portland, even matching up with LaMarcus Aldridge on occasion and causing problems. But the trouble with Donte (12 PTS, 4-13 FG, 3 AST) has always been his inconsistencies on offense. Donte took the second most shots among Kings players, firing up 13 in 23 minutes. But he connected on just four. He also grabbed just one rebound, unacceptable for a 6’10″ guy when the team is getting blasted on the glass

"I let that (the Rubio talk) get to me too much," Flynn said. "Everybody was always talking about Ricky coming here. My two years here was like five years to me. What I went through taught me a lot about life."

"I remember all of that," Flynn said of the criticism. "It felt like we were playing 82 road games last year when your own crowd was on you. What did I do to deserve that? I never spoke bad about Minnesota or the organization."

Around The Big East

Big East commissioner John Marinatto said in the fall that future football-only members San Diego State and Boise State will get four non-conference games against Big East basketball members. Which two teams will head West is still unknown. With Navy now reportedly to join the Big East in football by 2015 the question remains will the Big East force two teams to go to Navy in hoops as well? It should. Navy should get the same treatment as Boise and SDSU. Having an elite team go to Navy would be a solid gesture.

The best promotion of the year: At Syracuse Wednesday night, fans can get into the Carrier Dome for $2. But it gets better. All fans can bring their ticket stubs to a participating “Taco Bell” for free munchies after the game. But Syracuse doesn’t even have to win for the promotion to kick start. All the Orange has to do is score 65 points. #shootforthestars

Good game for Warrick. Interesting tidbits on Donte Greene and Jonny Flynn.
With Greene the problem has always been his defense, now he's playing decent D and his O is bad.

In Flynn's case the fans wanted to see the play of a guy who was kept in favor of a Ty Lawson who became a star in Denver after Chauncey was traded. The fans are also looking at a guy like Curry who they could have had. I can understand the fan's disappointment.

Agree, maybe Donte can go to the Knicks. They never played defense but scored at will, now like Donte they play defense but cant score. He would fit right in. With Flynn, I would love to see him get an actual shot, just one more time. Hes on a winning team suprisingly in Houston behind a pg playing out of his mind. Correct me if im wrong but Flynn had a good start to his rookie year before he got injured, I hope he gets one more shot.

JB on a podcast said the Flynn's hip is still troubling him.
