Ex-Syracuse safety Shamarko Thomas impresses at NFL Scouting Combine

‘Cuse’s Thomas has top 40 time among safeties

You may believe that it's not good to fall down at the end of your 40-yard dash, and I may believe that it's not good to fall down at the end of your 40-yard dash, but don't tell that to Syracuse strong safety Shamarko Thomas. On his first of two 40 attempts from Lucas Oil Stadium at the scouting combine, Thomas -- who measures in at a very interesting 5-foot-9 and 213 pounds -- managed to rip off an unofficial 4.38 40-yard dash despite the fact that he did quite the faceplant at the end of his run. His official time

Ryan Nassib: Round 2, Top 50

Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone would no doubt love the opportunity to work with his former college quarterback Ryan Nassib, and with a strong 2013 to date at various events, Nassib has done enough to ensure his selection in the first 50 or so picks this year.

The Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and the Bills all look like potential homes for Nassib in 2013, with Buffalo likely to lead the charge in the second round.

Great article on Syracuse's economic history.

We have lost our way.
As a young person out of school we had our pick of employers. They all tried to outdo each other for workers.
You could even easily negotiate better benefits. We were all like kids in the proverbial candy shop. GE, New Process Gear, GM, Smith Corona, Carrier, Crouse Hinds, Chrysler, Ni Mo, Bristol Labs, Syracuse China, Onondaga Pottery, the candle companies, Dietz Lantern, the breweries, Crucible steel mill not to mention the universities, hospitals, Nettelton Shoes, Lipe Rollway, Smith Corona, Marsellus Caskets, Church & Dwight, Pass & Seymour, insurance companies, airlines and Stickley.

At one time 80% of auto gears were made here

We were 3rd to Pittsburgh & Sheffield England for high grade steel

The decline in industry and population has it's effect on everything here including football attendance.
