If that were to cover the spread I would be more suspicious although T Henderson unnecessarily fell at the one yard line prior to the TD. People tend to be much more aware of the spread than the total.
The cover play is very common in college. These coaches know the line and know their big $ boosters are all over the alumni point spread.
The Big 12 is awful. ASU and BYU were bad last year and must have been picked to finish last. Iowa State stinks and ran off a bunch of wins. Garbage conference.
I took Utah tonight +7.5 (got that line yesterday). Utah at night is a tough place to play. Wouldn't be shocked on an outright win by the Utes

Yeah coaches are well aware of the spread and often motivated to cover. Not so much with the total which is what the earlier poster alleged. Coaches couldn't care less about the total.
So not true!Thats why I never lay points and either bet the dog or take the money line on a favorite. Don Shula once said he doesn’t know a coach that cares a thing about a point spread and if he was a gambler he would always take the points.
I said often - I didn't say always. Most college coaches don't really care about the spread but there are plenty that do. If you're an active bettor you most certainly have encountered a HC actively seeking to cover a spread. I submit one Mr. James Franklin as Exbibit A.
If you never lay points in college football then you're going to have some rough weeks. Ranked teams are often seeking style points while some well below .500 teams are going through the motions. On balance, favorites covered a lot more than dogs this week.
