[I]It’s Syracuse’s turn atop the Maverik Media Poll.

The Orange, who were No. 6 in the preseason poll, take the top spot in Week 9 after putting together an 8-1 record defined by clutch play in close games.

Last week’s No. 1, Penn State, [URL='http://www.insidelacrosse.com/game/143/17']was easily dispatched by Maryland in front of a huge crowd in College Park on Saturday[/URL]. The Nittany Lions move to 7, while Maryland is third and receiving first-place votes.

Hofstra is the lone unbeaten team in the country and is No. 2. [URL='http://www.insidelacrosse.com/game/270/17']The Pride beat Delaware this weekend[/URL] and welcomes Drexel next.

The rankings set up one of the biggest games of the weekend, as Albany hosts Maryland on Wednesday in a makeup game from earlier in the season.
