In the last two years the New York Mets were 145-125 (.537) when Jacob DeGrom did not pitch.

They were 28-36 when he did (.4375) He won the Cy Young both years.

He was 21-17, (.553), when he got the decision. When he didn't the Mets lost 19 of 26 games, (.269), .

Shows how bad the bullpen was?

The Mets also scored so few runs in those games that they needed DeGrom in there to have a chance to win.

I decided to look that up, too. The Mets scored 240 runs in the 64 games DeGrom pitched, an average of 3.75 runs per game. They scored 151 runs in the 28 victories, an average of 5.39. In the 36 defeats they scored 89 runs, or 2.47 per game. Even Cy Young winners need support from the guys with the bats in their hands.

much like Gooden was ffor those good years.. The other teams pitched lights out against those guys.
