I certainly get what you are saying, no doubt. However lots of people with money, especially when it starts with a B!, have large egos. And frowned upon vs illegal is different things in his eyes I’m sure.

While yes, from all indications Repole seems very content being behind the scenes, that’s not for everyone willing to spend SEVEN figures!

And we clearly need more than ever, someone willing to spend 7 figures.

Part of the problem was he wanted to do whatever he wanted - which means crossing the line from frowned upon to illegal could happen without Syracuse realizing it. And by saying “I had my lawyers clear everything with compliance!” - he was setting it up to completely throw Syracuse under the bus to preserve his reputation.

He’s done a great job so far throwing Syracuse under the bus in all his public statements -so it’s not like it’s just conjecture that’s the route he would go if he felt he needed to. Still, as Scooch noted - if you follow what he says long enough eventually you’ll start questioning if he’s been fully forthcoming in detailing how things went down.

AWs money would be great,,,but it’s almost certainly not worth it if he wants to spend it in any way he wants with no oversight, just referring back to discussions with the compliance office in an increasingly distant past every year.
