Kid is with me while my wife and sister/nanny for the rest of the trip do their spa stuff, and they're taking the car. Believe me, I don't want to be tied to this house but am for a few hours.

how old is your kid? car seat still? If so its very selfish of your wife to take the automobile. What if, god forbid, he fell down and needed to get some stitches? You don't have the car seat to take him to the hospital? she can call a cab.
