Video taken from the field as Oregon celebrated its 59-20 win in the College Football Playoff semifinal showed multiple players chanting "No means no" to the tune of the "Warchant" used by Florida State fans.

Oregon released a statement Thursday night from coach Mark Helfrich: "We are aware of the inappropriate behavior in the postgame. This is not what our program stands for, and the student-athletes will be disciplined internally."

Of all the statements Oregon could say they don't stand for, I'm not sure "No means no" is the one they want to discipline their student-athletes about.

Might want to rethink that.

Seriously not what these guys should be doing. Can we not have a game without this type of behavior. No matter what the decision is with Winston, this was just not appropriate, especially on the podium. Just another black eye for football players. Not any different than Winston jumping up in the cafeteria and shouting out...same type of behavior. Mockery is not an example of good sports. Th
e problem is not with the message of "no means no".

Oh, I know. Oregon needs to be careful though. This could get spun in to some really ugly directions if they don't handle this right.

You're overthinking this.

Eh. I got some feminist friends that I suspect are going to catch wind of this and take an interest.

Tempest.

Teapot.

I'm a female. It is not even the wording. Use any words. It is the mocking and using the chop cheer. Mocking the other team is a penalty during the game. It is just not appropriate at any time. Any part of it. Especially for academic institutions and student athletes that represent those institutions. Just don't make it about the words but the actions, and it will be fine.

Maybe the real problem is a guy like Winston still being on a college team, and a college not enforcing policies to prevent and/or discipline those who engage in inappropriate behavior. NCAA should be doing more in this area than some of the other nonsense they do.

One wrong does not make another wrong ok. What you say is not even relevant to what happened tonight. Do you really think that was the mind set of the Oregon players when they did that? Do you really think that this was only directed towards Winston? The use of the chop song was an insult to all FSU fans and players. This type of behavior has to stop somewhere. If Winston was wrong, and if FSU wrongly handled him, that is another issue. If the Oregon players really felt that was the issue, then they could have refused to take the field when he was playing. That would have been the real statement. Not after Fl. State has left the field and they are in the locker room. Who was the message directed to if it was about the message.

This is why things like "taunting" and "endzone celebrations" get flagged and are penalties. And people say the NFL is the "No Fun League" or the NCAA and NFL are taking the passion out of football in college and pros, let them celebrate. If you let kids (especially college kids) "celebrate" this is what you get!

The chant couldve just as easily been about Karlos Williams, or a number of other players. Is it classy? Not really. Is Oregon the problem? Nope

After watching MCW get slated by opposing fans and players for a much lessor offense, I'm not sure why this surprises anyone.

Oregon shouldve owned their actions. "We apologize for the undignified action of our players but not what their actions stand for".

It's not about wiping the floor with him! Take care of your own house and don't worry about what's going on in someone else's.

They won the game. Great job by them but now instead of talking about how they wiped the floor with them this gets media attention. Stupid

This is going to follow him to the NFL. Can you imagine the Philly fans licking their chops right now?!

Eh...given the issues with domestic violence that have come to the forefront this year, it's nice to see football players hold someone like Winston in contempt.

I hope he grows up, but I can't imagine he ever will since he's never faced any real consequences for his actions.

Winston will be Manziel 2.0

Both physically gifted athletes who will let their immaturity ruin their careers

Not that this means anything, but so far on my wall this morning I've seen 5 people questioning why Oregon will punish it's players for this.

I get it but it just takes away from the win. At the end of the day there are bigger things to worry about but that way I look at is celebrate what you just accomplished not some situation that doesn't involve you.

So you've got like 3 players out of 80 something on the sideline mocking Winston by changing the words to the Tomahawk Chop? Egads, what a transgression. Release a statement saying they're sorry. Sit them for the opening series. Done. This is pretty insignificant in the realm of negative college football player behavior. Not the smartest thing a few 20 year olds every did, but far from the worst. Unfortunately for them, there were cameras that caught it.

It doesn't mean anything.

This will be a completely dead issue within 48 hours.

I mean, I suppose the professionally outraged class might post scathing FB comments about it. But no one cares about that.

Unless of course he is drafted by Philadelphia.

Nope. He was right. Lead story on sportscenter.

No, my point was not that it wouldn't be a story, because EVERYTHING is a story these days.

My point was that Otto's thought of people being upset because Oregon was disciplining kids for saying "no means no" would be the focus. As if Oregon supports rape.

Is that what's happening?
