We're a blocked FG away from a BCS game.

There's a difference between a team making a great play and a team having a lineman slip or a review ref not see something the world can. There are interceptions and then there are interception that freakishly bounce off a receiver.

Not all breaks are created equal.

making simple plays is something you want to count on.. losing on fluky plays is when it hurts.

Well put. Lemon should catch the pass on fourth and ten; Nassib can march down the field against USF's porous prevent defense. We beat those teams on merit.

Reddish isn't supposed to drop the easy interception and Pugh isn't supposed to fall down on the field goal attempt. And the ref sure isn't supposed to rule that Rene fumbled the ball when he was lying flat on his back.

Pittsburgh might be a different story; our defense made a couple spectacular plays that we can't usually count on. We were fortunate to win that one.

Either way, we're a good team and I'm pretty pleased with where we are.

I'm also 6 inches away from being in porn films.

I get it but the fact is that we also are a couple of plays (USF, Mizzou) from being 6-6 or 5-7.

It goes both ways too.

you must be Irish

If we had beaten Rutgers and finished at 6-1 instead of 5-2.
There was a similar scenario back in 2003 or so, right around the last time we were supposed to go to the ACC. We ended up in a 3-way tie for the BE title with BC (and Pitt?). And that time, we had lost to Temple due to a missed XP. If I recall. Someone fact check me here.

Two oh-so-close moments.

2004 was a 4 way tie with BC, Pitt, and WV.

The missed XP was against Temple in 2002. 2004 was the Walter Washington show.
