Now what will they say?
No longer can opposing recruiters use certain negative recruiting tactics to question the future of West Virginia's football program. The Mountaineers' long-term conference alignment is now an advantage -- and no longer a concern -- as West Virginia coaches woo prospects.
"They were getting bombarded by people saying we didn't have a home, about how the Big East was imploding," coach Dana Holgorsen said. "You've heard all the negative stuff that was being said about the Big East. It was negative. Then when it was announced we were going to the Big 12, it kind of squashed all that because we did have a home and we did have a future."
