I put on America's greatest free form radio station - WFMU - just now... and of all the songs in the world...the song they're playing is "The Syracuse."
By Felix and the Escorts.
Apparently it was a big local hit in the 60's.

"Felix" was Felix Cavaliere...who went on to lead The Rascals.

A lot of talent at SU at that same time: Felix, Lou Reed, Garland Jeffreys.

First of all, thanks for posting this. I've never heard this song before. Secondly, I had no idea "The Cuse" was a term used as far back as the 1960's and yet it appears in this song. I don't know when I thought that term was coined, clearly at least by 1996 thanks to John Wallace, but the 60s surprises me. Do you all remember the origins of it?

Garland Jeffreys totally still has it.
Saw him about 5 years ago at what was the greatest bar/club in the city...The Rodeo Bar.
(Buckets of free peanuts in the shell and cheap Lone Star).

He did a tremendous set with a great band...jumping up on tables and raising hell.
Talked to him about his time at SU.
He said he'd never been back...but since then I think he did a show in the Westcott Theater.

This is still the greatest rock song so few people seem to know:

Didn't realize he had so much talent in the studio for this).
