seriously... as crazy as it sounds. For the 1st time since probably the Miami trouncing of 2001, we are only 60 game minutes away from being in the top 10.

If we were in the SEC we'd already be ranked with the same resume. That would give lsu no chance of losing to an unranked team and if they did lose the other SEC team jumps everyone and takes their place and lsu wouldn't drop far since it was a ranked team that beat them. That's how these things work. That's also why I loathe preseason rankings.

As it were I thought maybe we'd receive a couple votes anyway on the off chance something highly unlikely happens. If we had 4 quarters of Dungey last week, we probably would've gotten a few.

What sucks is that by the end of 12 that was a top 15 team by its performance

not having Pugh and gift points killed then 4 games, not inherent capability

By the last game of the season I guess you can argue that but no one outside of Syracuse would buy it. SU was 3-5 after 8 games that year. We had a very enjoyable 5 game run but the first 2/3rds of the year did happen.

The wins and the ranking significantly under performed the combined offensive and defensive statistical combined ranking which was historically would be what would be seen in a 10+ win team

a lot of that would depend on who else in the top 25 loses though. there are only a handful of games matching up ranked opponents this week, so even with an Orangeman upset, I think it would take a few other teams losing to break into the top 20. You can't dismiss the stupidity of those with votes
