What Assistant Coach(es) Could We Add ...

who could seriously make a difference?

If we want to avoid the supposed "bad look" of firing Adrian Autry at the end of this season, then tell me one or two coaches who he could realistically add, who somebody like Donnie Freeman would look at and say "yes, I could really learn a lot from this guy".

Because as much as Red needs a bench and game-planning coach like Seth Greenberg to join him and help him learn the ropes, I feel like we need a legit big man coach to come in here. I think I just read that Herm Harried is going to be coaching the McDonald's game. I always liked him a lot and he built a powerhouse program at Lake Clifton that won a bunch of championships in Maryland.

Any chance we could get him? My gosh, we need somebody like that - or maybe younger. We need somebody who is going to come in here, and would gain instant respect as a teacher of the game. Rosie Bouie is another kind of choice, but somebody who has succeeded at a high level.
youre asking the right questions imo

if red stays i think he MUST shake up his staff at the bare minimum

if red wants to stick around...if hes even alowed to...i think the model going forward will be Red is the PR guy...the recruiter...the face of the program

and behind the scenes, the rest of the tasks go to specialists who are actually good at those things

red needs less on his plate...and he needs better assistants

No offense to Arinze, but I think a lot of his success on defense was just because of his build. He was a building. People were not going past him. But you either are built that way, or you're not. Not much you can teach there. To me, Etan had exceptional fundamentals, and was a tough player. I think he could bring some interesting energy to the program.
Probably true but a coach doesn't necessarily need to be able to do just have that knowledge and have the ability to connect with the players.

Obviously he is not a big man but I would hire EDev23. He has intensity and high energy that the other coaches definitely don't possess alot of. I think he would have the ability to get the most out of the players.
Like you said, Etan is an interesting thought too.
ED & ET would definitely make us a much tougher team and thats one thing we have lacked for a long time.

The only answers we have so far are ex-Cuse players and Phil Martelli. We gotta expand our thinking…

With Red being a first-time HC I felt that hiring an experienced head coach as an assistant would've helped him. Sort of like Martelli with Juwan Howard or Larry Brown with Penny (without the cheating ofc). But those guys don't come cheap and they only go so far if we can't get better talent.

I like Devo as an assistant coach, too. He keeps it real, and has been teaching young kids at his local camps for about 4 or 5 years now. Plus, he's getting regular announcing gigs on ACC Network, too. Him standing on the scorers table at MSG when he thought he won it is the legendary moment of that game, for me.

Seth Greenberg as the bench coach. I put that out there, along with others.

And of course Oates' assistant who is tearing it up right now. I forget his name right now, but certainly well talked about.

Greenberg probably makes more at ESPN than what we would pay our bench coaches.

He might want to try to help save Red's skin. You can tell how much Seth likes Adrian and his family from his stint at Va Tech.

Bryan Hodgson is our guy. I mentioned that somewhere here yesterday and probably went on and on TY edibles.
But i fear he may end up in Miami very soon.

The dude grew up tough in Jamestown NY in a foster home bc his Step father? set him down on a burning woodstove when he was a baby.
Huckle bucked as a player at community college and then FredoniaSt.
Started from the ground as a coach and worked up to a top Asst. at bama now doing great as HC at ArkSt.
Im sure most of you already knew most of that but...thats what I want as my HC especially having ties in NY, worked at camps at SU and can recruit with the best.
Hes tough and we need tough, frankly we have been borderline 'wimps' for a long time and been called out as such by Oates.
Lets see how many temper tantrums we throw tonight bc of legit fouls. Its silly, it makes matters worse, makes yourself look like a baby and fires up the other team...and they flat out laugh at us.

Its sad we made our name as a bad ass program in the bad ass big east and now we are the softest in the acc.
Its embarressing and I am fired up, I hope we show some fire tonight! If not...we need to go 7-2? or whatever? the rest of the year or burn it down!
Spend the $ and get the right coach, well we probably have to check in with his highness 'Melo' first. How sad?

I dont know...but where is the legend Jim Boeheim in all of this?
Is he just sitting back respectfully or what?
I would think Autry would be drilling him for support. I would be even if the team was #1.

This experiment is a failure. Things are broken. I have heard some very disappointing news about work ethic on and off the court about the team in the last week. There is no one enforcing any discipline on this team. None of the players or coaches are really stepping up and being leaders. Too many good cops. Players aren’t doing anything bad or illegal just not focused enough.
Red needs to go. I’ve heard enough.

Miami is a dead end job. Their ceiling is mid. I posted about this yesterday. Hodgson will hold out another year for Cuse or a more name brand program than Miami.

I hope you are right and based on the contract BH signed a couple days ago your thought does becomes much more likely.
